INTRODUCTION

This handbook has been written with the purpose of providing detailed information to students concerning their rights and obligations in the Dissertation module, as well as some general guidelines as to the writing of the Dissertation.

KEY DATES

Checklist for the 2012/2013 academic year:

1. Attend the Dissertation Week, by the end of which you should have your research question, objectives and hypothesis ready. Date: 17-21 September 2012.

2. Contact a tutor with whom you can discuss your ideas, and who is available for further consultations. A list of potential supervisors and their preferred topics is available on Moodle and the Intranet. Date: 19 September to 14 October 2012

3. Write the Dissertation Proposal, using the template provided as Appendix 2 of the Module Description. Submit the proposal via Moodle. Deadline: 15 October, 2012.

4. Once you have your proposal and the supervisor approved, keep regural contact via Moodle or face-to-face. Submit three Notes on Consultation to the Student Centre by the following deadlines:
