Within the Israeli context, moral disobedience during war is an unconventional action so long “as the soldier has not been given an illegal command. A flagrantly illegal command is an order that deviates from the traditional moral foundation of the IDF of purity of arms. This demands careful discrimination between an innocent civilian and an enemy soldier as well as the just application of military power. This convention has traditionally been translated into acts of additional self-sacrifice in maintaining one's own moral principles on the battlefield” (Linn, 1996: 426).
