The discussion question #2 for week 3 is:
1. How does the concept of ethnocentrism (briefly described in chapter 1) get displayed in our families? Include at least two examples form your own experience in comparison to other families you've encountered
The notion of one’s culture being superior to other cultures is in regards to ethnocentrism. One experience in regards to comparison is the home cooked meals. When I was younger I would compare my family meals to my friends families, in regards to the preparation and choice of foods.

2. Compare and describe the nature of families in individualistic and collectivistic cultures. Provide examples from at least two other cultures.

    For this assignment I interviewed Omar Bretado. He is a 25-year-old male who migrated to the United States with his family at the age of twelve. He and his family, like most immigrant families, came to the United States in hopes of a better future. Omar and his family migrated from Zacatecas, Mexico to Dallas, Texas. Omar tells me that he is glad that he was given such a wonderful opportunity when he came here. In Mexico, he lived with his three siblings, parents, grandparents, and a few aunts and uncles. The house was divided into three areas so that everyone could have a bit of privacy. An individual from a noble, average or poor family can be distinguished by the character, acts, behavior, and living style.
