Direct to Indirect Characterization Little seven year old Luke walked into the kitchen, tracking black footprints into the room and said to his mom, “Rudy has black spots now! Don’t you like it!” His mother had a stern look on her face and responded, “Luke, I told you to leave that poor cat alone.” Rudy slowly sneaked into the room drenched in black paint. He gave out a low “Meow” and looked up to the mother with pleading eyes, as if he were saying “Help me please.” The mother told Luke, “Go clean yourself up and stop messing around with Rudy.” Luke ran upstairs to the bathroom, while he kicked his shoes off, which made loud thumping sounds as they fell down the stairs.     Domaszewicz telephoned Ms. Williams at her sister’s home. Ms. Williams said that Mr. Domaszewicz was angry because of the conversation with Mr. Farr. His response was to the effect that it did not matter because he was going to have a shower (or give Jaidyn a shower) and then bring him back to Katie Leskie’s.
