Different Types Of Chronic Stress
I think the two most underappreciated risk factors for chronic stress is chronic disease and mental illness. As a person trying to make it through day to day with 2 chronic diseases I can attest to the stress this factor imposes on oneself. I suffer mentally and physically daily. My physical pain is both attributed to illness but the physical effects stress can cause on your body. Many people do not understand the difference between disease and chronic illnesses. Chronic is not going away; it is likely that a lot of medication will be prescribed that eventually will not work. As people age they build a tolerance to repeated use of medicines, in particular pain meds, higher doses or more potent medications are prescribed that have side effects. I really dislike taking numerous pills for various symptoms. …show more content…
Another form of stress attributed to chronic pain is the not knowing how you are going to feel day to day. It is hard sometimes to have a repetitive routine. I have had to change my lifestyle dramatically due to chronic pain. It wears on you mentally. Wondering if I'm going to be able to stand on my feet for the entire day, or attend a planned event creates a lot of anxiety. Some days are good and some days are bad. I feel that I have aged dramatically due to chronic illness. There needs to be a better emphasis on this issue and more holistic approach for those that suffer emotionally and psychologically as well as
