Journal #9 Freedom and Suffering Zuleyma Iturbide Freedom is being able to do, think and believe what you want without anyone stopping you or holding you back. Being free means you get to choose. You get to choose what you wear, speak, eat, do, and believe. You have no rules or regulations to stop you. Of course, no one can ever truly be free. For a person to be completely free it would mean authority, parents, the government, and religion would not exist. All these things and much more hold you back from doing what you want. For some freedom is being an adult. Because according to probably every teenager out there, once you become an adult you’re "free". Of course, you have different things, and people, that influence those choices, but essentially they're yours to make. Each will lead you to a different road. In the end, though It's a road that you chose. No one else. In the bible, it says that one of the greatest things God gave us, is the power to choose. We have that freedom. When first thinking about it, I thought that most likely there are only four people on this earth that I would suffer for. My mom, my half-sister, my best friend, and in the future, my spouse. Now thinking about it, I believe that I would suffer for anyone. My religion teaches me that Jesus suffered for everyone on this earth. Even the worst of the worst. He died for us all even though we definitely do not deserve it. I am taught that even though it can be almost impossible to do, I should at least try to have that compassion. If asked to, I would in an instant physically, mentally or emotionally suffer for anyone. To the point that I would die. It's just who I am. My upbringing and the influences i've had, have molded me into someone that would do that. It's a bit scary to think about, but because I have been raised to love everyone, I would suffer to a great extent, for anyone on
