Diary Summary: The Diary Of Mr. Priestling's Factory
Eva's diary

14/08/1910
This is the most fortunate day of my life. I couldn't believe I get a job in Birling's factory. This factory is in the countryside, I like this environment, it is peaceful. There are lots of cool girls in the factory, I can't make friends with them, we all know we are different, anyway, I enjoy the time to be along. My mom was so excited when I told her I got a job, I also told her I will earn lots of money and bring her a holiday.

12/09/1910
The work in the factory is monotonous, it is not that exciting as I expected. I have worked here for four weeks probably. Sometimes I will think about my boss, I heard someone call him Mr. Birling, but I haven't seen him yet. What is he like? I imagine he must be a vegetative

Mr. Birling is cruel, he required us to work 70 hours per week, however, this hard earned wage is just enough for me to pay the rent. I spoke to Mr. Birling today, he rejected my requirement and won't give anyone pay rise. He said 'It's a free country isn't it?'. For god sake, forget this free country. He doesn't care the girl in the working class as long as he can go to his gorgeous house and have a delightful dinner with his family. What about me? What about us? How can we survive without a job?
I don't want to beg this bastard but I afraid I have to.

He gave me lots of money, that could last for a long time. I used to think he loves me. But he left me recently, he even didn't leave a note for me before he left. But never mind, his money can still last for a while.
Oh, right, I met a squiffy guy today, he is called Eric, he is an interesting guy, sometimes he is shy, sometimes he is assertive. We went to bed without contraception. I am afraid I will be pregnant.

15/09/1911
My life is a total mess recently; I always feel unwell. I afraid I am pregnant. How can I tell him this? I hope I will never tell him.
I notice there is a women's charity committee, I have an appointment with it next week. God bless me it can really help me.

21/09/1911
I told Eric I am pregnant, he seemed so worried. I could see he had not prepared to be a father. I will not force him. Today he gave me a pile of money, I can't believe he has such amount of deposit. I asked him is this money he stolen from others, he didn't answer me. I thought I got the answer. I couldn't take this money but I have to survive, my baby has to

The second organization that I had the opportunity to volunteer for is Goodwill Rescue mission. They created this organization in 1896. Under the leadership of Rev. Lawrence Sutherland, the purpose of the organization moved from being a struggling institution to one with a nationwide reputation. They shared the love of God in Christ by providing food, shelter, spiritual guidance and instruction for the poor and the homeless in Newark. According to Goodwill Rescue mission, they affiliate with helping the individuals directly rather than send them someplace else to fend for themselves. The program is also working with some of these individuals to get them back on their feet to fend for themselves. They have to go through programs if any of them…

It was January 2nd 1940, in a town called Berlin. The second World War has just started, and both sides were ready to fight. My family and i were hidden in sturdy attic tucked away from the Nazis, who were attacking us because we were jews The man who is letting us stay here is a “non-jew”, he seems very stern, but is actually quite nice. He was kind of a double agent. He pretends to be with the Nazis, but actually hides families like mine to keep them safe. My family and i are grateful, we know he is risking his life to protect ours.…

Being active in National Charity League for six years, I have had the pleasure of working with many different philanthropies, my favorite being The Tualatin School House Pantry. Operating out of the basement of a church, the food bank helps to feed families in the community who are struggling financially. While my first few experiences at the food pantry were emotionally challenging, I found them to be very eye opening. I met many people from different backgrounds, yet they all shared the same hardship, the inability to afford food for themselves and their families. Wanting to do more for the recipients, I received training to be one of the personal shoppers.…

On February 26th, 2005 I walked into Mrs. Johnson's residence for our discussion of what is one of the happiest days of her life. It was an inviting house. The room smelled like vanilla and everything was very tidy like most expected mothers houses usually are. Mrs. Johnson is a long time friend so I notice the excitement in here eyes to talk to me about her new addition. She said that nobody has ever wanted to write about her feeling of her pregnancy and with two other children excited to have an adult to talk too. We sat down on her couch and she turned toward me eager to know what I was going to ask.…

As apart of my service, I assisted in helping the community as well as others through the Notre Dame Annual Pilgrimage, Harvest Kitchen at St. Kevin’s Roman Catholic Church and participating in the Notre Dame Walk Against Male Violence. In October of 2010, I walked and raised money for the annual Pilgrimage at our school which involved trudging the distance from our school to the Allenburg Bridge. The money raised assisted those in third world countries mainly going to a facility called Yancana Huasy intended for the use by mentally and physically challenge young adults. The money is also sent to Haiti, Peru and the Dominican. As a volunteer for Harvest Kitchen my responsibility was to help deliver the meals to the people as well as work the handicap elevator in order to assist immobile people. Other duties included clearing dishes, socializing with others, setting up and serving food and drinks. Lastly, I also participated in the Walk Against Male Violence in which I was required to raise money and walk the 5 Kilometers as a method of raising awareness and money for abused women.…
