Guy Montag, is a fireman. But in his world, a “fireman”’s job is to burn houses that contain the burden called books. He quickly becomes eager to learn, and begins to steal books. He tries to share them with people he loves, but then the firemen came for his house. Because of his anger towards his job, wife, Beatty, and the fireman, he leaves the dystopian society. In the book Fahrenheit 451 the “known” for society is a government that controls the information that the public receives and gives out. Books are a source of information that puts original ideas into people's brain, and that is what the government does not want. They have created a television life that is plain, and unsocial. Guy Montag’s (the hero’s) call to adventure is his job. As a fireman, Montag’s job is to burn houses that accommodate books. He has a curiosity about books, that is controlled and supported by a friend named Clarisse. “They want to know what I do with all my time. I tell them that sometimes I just sit and think.” His curiosity was sparked by Clarriese, is the cause of the beginning of change.
The guardians of this threshold, is Beatty and Mildred. Beatty is a guardian because he countless times scolded Montag about how books are bad. Mildred because she tried to get Guy Montag to get rid of the books. “He caught her, shrieking. He held her and she tried to fight away from him, scratching.” But, Montag did have helpers. He had his mentor Faber, and helpers Clarisse and books themselves. Some challenges he faced was the Mechanical Hound, Beatty, and Society itself.
