Parents trust us teachers with their children and believe the school will take every measure to help their child succeed. Policies must be made to protect the rights of individuals with special needs. People like Patti, Luis, and Bernard are beautiful, amazing individuals. They require only patience, love, and compassion. Geraldo Rivera said “All people need is humanity and compassion”, and special education needs reform and continue to improve.…

Malcolm Gladwell recounts the biblical story of David and Goliath in order to provide a solid foundation for the rest of the novel. The seedling of an underdog being able to defeat a goliath is planted into the reader’s head, and the seedling continues to develop as Gladwell adds more stories. Also, it begins to convince the reader to think outside of the box, “It never occurred to him (Goliath) that the battle would be fought on anything other than those terms, and he prepared accordingly” (7), because David used a tactic that Goliath was not prepared for, he triumphed. This theme continues throughout the stories as people use unconventional strategies to achieve what they desire. For example, Gary Cohn obtains a stockbroker job by jumping into a cab and lying. Another theme is coming out on top, despite shortcomings that the champion might have.…

I hope you all are well. I originally sent out a letter asking for participants to be mentors in a project that I am expanded on from which I started back in 2009. I am a liitle surprised and disappointed in the lack of response of mentors for the project. I realize as professionals, many of you have programs and organizations that you all partner up with and do certain thing with to help the children but i have to honestly ask you if what you're doing is it a once a year thing for publicity or is it something that it's actually making a difference in sometimes life. I'm not taking about buying sometime a back pack for the first day of school and never knowing if they even go to school, or getting them a uniform a and you don't even know what school they do to our feeding the children and they are too engaged to pull out their isn't buyer and jelly sandwich next to sometime else chick file a. I'm talking about a keeping up with someone when the spotty light is off, the camera crew had left, when a school year is almost up and that child's is struggling to past the next assignment, when they are so distracted by social media and you can take out a few seconds of your busy schedule and say, hey kiid, I'm just checking on you to make sure your ok, making sure your still good on your grades, attendance and still working toward your career goals. Is there anything I can help you with? Just a simple meager like that to reach out each month to stay connected to your mentee. I'm asking if you can take out the time to join in with me for this purpose. I originally stated with the goal of housing this event on September 6, I've had to reschedule it for several reasons. You wouldn't believe all the word things that has tried to keep me from doing this event from people bashing out in me, greedy agents, sponsors sending fraud cashier checks, venue over booking, all kinds of madness. But what has mad me strive to do this event is not only am i using…

Being a man of religious background, specifically Roman Catholic, I began read the tablets of Gilgamesh skeptically. However I did notice a significant difference between the Genesis chapters 6 through 9 and the Epic of Gilgamesh. The story of Noah as written in the Holy Bible, under Genesis was written as I believe within a society that carried very strong morals. A belief in something bigger than themselves; and their belief in that one thing was called God. A God that was merciful and compassionate, yet vengeful, in regards to his creation known as mankind. In regards to Noah’s story, God was to banish the word of all creatures including man for the violence state that they had become. In the essence of gender relations, it’s stated in Genesis that God saw how beautiful women were created as the daughters of men. It also mentions how God saved the life of one man and his family from a flood that was to be the end of one Generation, the original generation that got out of control in God’s eyes and the beginning of a fresh start. I also feel that the society, in which the accounts of the bible were written, was one of insecurity and redemption. Maybe the bible was like a code of conduct, with examples in which one at the time could refer too. That there were consequences, to ones actions, however through the act of redemption one could be saved, and forgiven by a merciful God. I don’t see vast examples of gender relations in this story for it speaks between man and God directly.…

I was asked to compare and contrast using the story of Gilgamesh’s flood and Noah’s Ark (Genesis 6:9). A good number of people know the famous story Noah’s flood, but do they know how it resembles to the Gilgamesh flood story? The main stories are so alike; the main theme is the biggest comparisons between the two. They also contrast greatly in the smaller details in the events that take place. The Epic of Gilgamesh was a story passed down through generations as a folk tale that they believed to be true; no singular author was ever established for the story. The stories are very much the same, but when comparing the details within they are very different.…

You can request an IEP evaluation at any time (written letter) to the school. Your child will undergo testing in academic and psychological evaluations to determine areas of weakness. If your child does demonstrate such, the team will write goals, based on your child’s needs and accommodations in the classroom that should help them be successful. The IEP team consists of teachers, parents, administrator, psychologist and any specialists that were called (i.e. speech and language pathologist). An IEP meeting will be held every year to talk about progress on goals. Every three years (triennial) your child will be evaluated to see if they still qualify for Special Education Services.…
