Definition Essay What is love? Love is a variety of different feelings, states, and attitudes that ranges from interpersonal affection to pleasure. It can refer to an emotion of a strong attraction and personal attachment. It can also be a virtue representing human kindness, compassion, and affection "the unselfish loyal and benevolent concern for the good of another". Love means having acceptance of the person we love. A heart-warming story tells of a woman who finally decided to ask her boss for a salary raise. In the end, the boss agreed to a raise. Her husband had come home early and prepared a festival meal. She didn’t know why he knew the result. She found him in the kitchen and told him the good news. Then they sat down to the wonderful meal. Next to her plate she found a note. It read: Congratulations, darling, I knew you’d get a raise. These things will tell you how much I love you. After dinner, she noticed that a second card had fallen from her husband’s pocket. It read: “Don’t worry about not getting the raise. These things will tell you how much I love you.” The man gives total acceptance and love to his dear, whether she succeeds of fails. He stands with her, no matter what happens in their life. Love means being responsible to the person we love. The responsibility does not mean one person run your life, but means do best to know each other, care about the welfare of each other and fulfill the promise. The responsibility is not what you say----it is what you do. It is much easier to say: “I love you.” than do “I love you.” Love is an emotion that we cannot live without, to love and to be loved is the most charitable thing in the world. Let’s experience it ourselves.

Love has many different meanings to many different people; it can be tossed aside like a dirty rag, unimportant and forgotten, or cherished and cared for like a priceless gemstone. To me, love is a connection between the hearts and minds of two people. It is a feeling of trust and wholeness; a feeling that in the other person’s eyes, you can do no wrong. To explain the process of “falling in love,” I will use a hypothetical couple and analyze their relationship as it progresses.…

There are many different kinds of love, but what is it actually? The American heritage dictionary defines love as an intense affection based on familial or personal ties. Love is an incredibly powerful word. When you're in love, you always want to be together, and when you're not, you're thinking about being together because you need that person and without them your life is incomplete. This love is unconditional affection with no limits or conditions: completely loving someone. It's when you trust the other with your life and when you would do anything for each other. When you love someone you want nothing more than for them to be truly happy no matter what it takes because that's how much you care about them and because their needs come before your own. You hide nothing of yourself and can tell the other anything because you know they accept you just the way you are and vice versa.…

Love by definition is an emotion explored in philosophy, religion, and literature, often as either romantic love, the fraternal love of others, or the love of God based on the definition found in The Encarta Encyclopedia. As I explored the definition by means of the Internet, books, and articles I noticed the definitions changed quite a bit, but yet had the same basic understanding. The definition I found in The Encarta Encyclopedia was probably the most simple and most basic. It refers to love in the whole aspect, which is Godly, fraternal, and romantic. All in which can only be defined by one word and that it love.…
