Deer Hunting
You’ve just killed a deer, oh no, you don't know how to gut it. If you hunt deer you need to know how to properly gut it. That way you can then skin the deer and eat it. This paper is for people who just got started deer hunting. If you have deer hunted before and know how to gut a deer then good for you, this paper isn't for you, goodbye. But anyways this process is a little gross so if you don't have a strong stomach I don't suggest gutting a deer. Gutting a deer means you are removing the heart, lung, stomach, etc, from the deer you have harvested. You have to do the before skinning the deer and processing the meat.
Before you start gutting the deer you will need to gather your materials/tools for the job. First you will need a sharp knife,

You will then need to find a location to gut your deer. You can either gut the deer where it died, or you can take it to a different place. If you choose to gut the deer at a different place put the deer in a sled being pulled by a vehicle or put the deer in the back of a truck or buggy. If you can't lift the deer by yourself call someone strong to help. After that you will bring the deer to the gut sight. Once you get to the sight put the deer on the ground. Next put on your gloves/sleeves. Guttin gloves are recommended. You will now grab a sharp knife and make a straight cut about 4 to 5 inches starting at the bottom of the kiester hole. Next reach your arm inside of the hole and remove what you can with your fingers. After that grab your knife and continue the cut from the kiester hole to the about right behind the deer's front legs, but be carefull don’t puncture the stomach/guts. Now start cleaning out intestines and toss them to the side and make sure you do not puncture the gut. Once you have cleaned out the lungs, heart, and intestines, make small cut at the connecter of the gut. After you've completed that place your hands firmly around the gut connector and pull as hard as you can until you remove the gut. The next thing you do once you're done cleaning out the deer and tossing the scraps to the side, if you can't do it by yourself ask your helper lift the deer to a diagonal position with its butt to

A young deer has strayed away from her herd and is innocently grazing on grass. Ten yards away, a hungry wolf pack slowly stalks toward the fawn after trailing her for days. The deer senses what's happening and darts away, but it's too late, the fawn is as good as dead. The snowy terrain works to the wolf's’ advantage, with their huge paws acting like snowshoes. The wolves advance as their strongest member leads the chase. The pups watch from the sidelines as the deer quickly tires out. The head wolf quickly latches on to the fawn’s nose and brings her to the ground. The deer thrashes as more wolves come and attack her. Not long after, the fawn gives up her fight and the wolves feast.…

The next morning, lower the deer onto the ground. Then cut through the Achilles tendon in the rear ankles and feed the rope through. Retie the deer by its rear ankles and hoist it back above the ground. The knot holding the deer up should be tied loosely so it can easily be manipulated up and down. Cut the hide around the ankles in a circular motion and begin to pull the hide down, slowly cutting the fat away as you pull. In his article “Deer Hunting: How-To Tips for Butchering and Processing Your Own Venison” Colin Moore from OutdoorLife.com gives tips for general cutting and he states that when skinning a deer to “Make cuts on a deer from the inside, not from the outside. Always puncture the skin of the deer and then work the knife blade from under the skin, not from the outside of it, whether you’re gutting it or circling the legs to begin the skinning process. If you cut from the outside, invariably you’ll cut hair and get it all over the meat. If you make the necessary cuts from the inside, the hair will move out of the way and stay attached to the hide better as you bring the blade forward.” Some areas will not require cutting. Cut off the tail and down the thighs until you get to the torso. Then pull the hide off of the body of the deer in one strong pull. Grab the skin from the furry side to get a better grip. Pull down to the neck as far towards the head as possible. When you reach the head cut the skin off around the circumference of the neck like you did at the ankle. The hide on the front legs will also need to be removed by cutting down the length of the thigh and then around the ankle. Once the skin is removed, the meat can be removed, and the deer can be…

It’s November, so that means its deer season. Every year deer season starts on the second weekend of November and last for ten days. I get really excited around August because during this time my family and I start exploring the woods looking for signs of deer. We look for signs like scrapes on trees, footprints, and tall grass that looks like it has been laid on and flattened. We set salt blocks out around our tree stands and set our cameras out hoping to catch a picture of a big buck. After we finish all the preparing we wait until the first week of November. During the first week of November we go back to our stands, check the salt blocks, set new blocks out, and grab our cameras to take back home. Once we get home we look at the pictures…

First, the population of the white-tail deer is entirely too big. In fact, there is a total of twenty-five million white-tail deer in the United States alone.1 Because of this enormous number of deer, they are constantly on the move. This means that they go straight to the roads. Ten thousand white-tail deer get hit by cars and die each year while they try to find new eating grounds.2 Not only is this wasting meat, but it causes severe damage to cars. Deer can even cause car accidents on the highway, killing humans as well. Also, deer are constantly getting pushed into the city because of little food due to the over-populated area of deer. Unfortunately, this causes a hassle in major cities when people try to catch the deer without harming it. Debra Fluitt, a citizen of Tulsa, Oklahoma, said, "Last year a big white-tail deer came into my very own house as I was unloading groceries. When the police tried to get it out, it destroyed over $800 worth of my belongings and finally jumped through the window." After the deer are captured in the city, they are taken back into an environment where food is scarce because of the over-populated deer that are already there. That deer then dies of starvation.…

Fingers of the woods stick out that are perfect for hiding deer stands, as deer don’t have good vision at all, the stands blend right in to the leaves and trees. My stand is set off to the northeast of his home, facing west across the field. Deer trails come up on either side and out of a finger of the woods forty yards in front of the stand. This is where my horrible mistake happens.…

Many animals endure prolonged, painful deaths when they are injured but not killed by hunters. What the author fails to consider is that most people that hunt are not hunting to just kill most are trying to feed there family or put meat in there fridge. According to peta the delicate balance of ecosystems ensures their survival if they are left unaltered. Natural predators help maintain this balance by killing only the sickest and weakest individuals. Hunters, however, kill any animal whose head they would like to hang over the fireplace including large, healthy animals who are needed to keep the population strong. Although this may be true the ecosystem is going to kill off populations a lot slower than kill animals such as deer are self, killing isn't bad if you using the deer for good causes. On private lands that are set up as for-profit hunting reserves or game ranches, hunters can pay to kill native and exotic species in “canned hunts.” This is true, but people that go out and hunt in canned hunts usually after they kill a deer they give the meat to share your harvest and help families in need.…
