I developed a very good and professional relationship with all the teachers and support staff. I have also improved on developing a good relationship with pupils where pupils see me as a person who can trust and I care about them. Throughout the placement, I was punctual and did not miss any day and I make sure to be on time in school every day. I read school policies before I started the placement and attended all the twilight as well as inset days. I have supported the…

I was a camp counselor at Camp Wabikon ‒ a co-ed overnight summer camp located in Temagami, Ontario for children who are 6-15 years of age. Along with teaching Red Cross swimming and lifesaving and Tennis, I was my cabin's 'parent' for six weeks. Therefore, I was present with the children at all times. In essence, I was the leader of my cabin's the physical, social and mental development. The main things I learned were the importance of time management and organization , as I had to plan lessons for swimming and Tennis while taking care of my cabin; conflict resolution between campers; and the ability to plan and foresee events (I had to plan camp-wide events and activities for all campers).…

Camp S.E.E.D is special because it provides something that is missing within the fundamentals of our education. In school, you learn how to pass a standardized test but ultimately it doesn't teach you how to apply those skills in the future to figure out your passion in life. In camp S.E.E.D we focus on providing these experiences to our campers. Through visiting a hospital, participating in a health fair, experiencing Junior Achievement Biz Town, and creating their own businesses. These opportunities help campers visualize a future they may not have seen as possible before and for us, that makes all the difference. Thank you everyone that helped in this process and contributed to our campers market day. You have truly helped change their lives…
