Integration or harmony among different people, races, countries have been in our history since the dawn of human era on earth. Humans are always identified as an animal race which finds solace in number. As people developed their skills and innovated new ideas integration among them became more and more complex and were based on the merits. According to scholar Karl Deutsch integration can be defined as,
“… A condition in which a group of people has attained within a territory , a sense of community and institutions and practices strong enough to assure for a long time – dependable expectation of peaceful change among its population.”
The alliance among the European countries is one such instance where people get together as a community for the betterment of their citizens. European Integration didn’t build overnight. It took the effort of many leaders of the region to work together to attain the strong bond. French foreign minister Robert Schuman (29 June 1886 – 4 September 1963) was one such pioneer. His ideologies resulted in the creation of European Coal and Steel Community in 1950 which was the initiative of European Integration after the world wars and later on, after signing the Treaty of Rome in 1957 the European Economic Community and European Atomic Energy Community was established. These three communities were later combined together which resulted in the ultimate establishment of the European Union by 1993. Today European Union consists of 27 countries in the region. European Union includes the European Commission, the Council of the European Union, the European Council, and the Court of Justice of the European Union, the European Central Bank and the European Parliament.
