Death Penalty Persuasive Speech
The ball is at his feet, he’s passing defenders left and right. He gets to the penalty area and is pushed a little rougher than usual. The ref calls the penalty. Now he’s up against Iker Casillas, the greatest goal keeper there ever was. His heart jumps to his throat and for a minute the stadium goes silent. He takes a few steps back and then quickly takes the penalty. His foot hits the ball and the crowd goes wild. Then everything turns black and John awakes in his bed in a tiny apartment in New York City.
In America most kids dream to be a pro football player or a pro basketball player, but John had a different idea of what he wanted to be. He always had a passion for soccer, since he could remember his father had always encouraged him in playing and observing the great sport.
As he lay in bed, consumed

They walked together, either making small talk or just walking in silence. Every so often their hands would brush against each other’s as they walked.
They made it to john’s house with only a few minutes to spare. They said goodbye to each other, but neither of them moved from there spots on the sidewalk. They just stood there, as if time would stand still if they just stood there all night. John didn’t want this day to end, if it ended would he ever see Steven again?
As they stood on the sidewalk, their bodies got closer like their bodies had a gravitational pull towards each other. Steven placed a hand on John’s blonde hair and inched closer to John’s face. The kiss at first was a struggle since their noses were in the way. Then Steven tilted his head to the right and had the perfect angle to kiss john’s perfect mouth. It felt like fireworks were going off inside his mouth, john thought. The kiss was perfect and he didn’t want it to end. He wanted to stand out all night and kiss the crap out of Steven.
They broke from the kiss since they both needed the air.
John spoke first,

Capital punishment is the ultimate sentence administered by the government for committing dangerous offenses. The word “capital” derives from the Latin word “capitalis,” meaning “of the head.” Original instances of capital punishment included beheading and hanging, leading to the use of word “capital” today. Through history, communities have considered some types of crimes so terrifying that the death penalty has been enacted for them. Over time, changing moralistic values and notions on government authority have limited the number and sorts of crimes considered worthy of death. Many countries have eliminated capital punishment totally, dismissing it as an inhumane reaction to criminal…

On California’s political calendar, physician-assisted suicide is considered to be a “done-deal” as the End-of-Life Option Act (SB 128) has many supporters. Their message is clear: like women’s suffrage, gay marriage, and higher minimum wage, it's inevitable that physician-assisted suicide becomes legal because, after all, it is a human right to make that decision.…

My fellow citizens, I am here today to address an issue that is ongoing in our country. The increase in brutality towards individuals involved in the LGBT community is quickly becoming a problem in today’s world. As the president of this country and as a Brilombian citizen, I vow to put a stop to this. As individuals on this earth our purpose is to love, so we should support all forms of love. Instead of disrespecting and making our fellow humans feel worthless, we should accept and welcome them with open arms. It’s time to stop shunning others because they don’t fit our image of ‘normal’. It’s time for a change. But the world won’t change because you wish it to, we’ll have to work together to make it happen. The idea of equality isn’t…

PTSD or Post Traumatic Stress Disorder is a psychiatric disorder that can occur following the experience or witnessing of life-threatening events such as the military combat, natural disasters, terrorism incidents, or any major tragedy. This is common in the life of veterans and is the leading cause of suicide among veterans. A VA patient who survived in Baghdad shares his experience with PTSD and explains how he knew he had this disability. Many veterans speak out about this issue and describe their continuous anger, alcohol addiction, and constantly wanted to fight. They usually feel very isolated and distant from their loved ones. One patient states, “PTSD involves rocketing into extreme states of stress re-activity; in the form of terror, rage, and uncontrollable impulses, and plunging into equally extreme states of being shut-down—exhaustion, emotional numbing, despair, and dissociation”. PTSD is about having fear and anxiety, allowing veterans to rage with anger and different emotion. There are many factors to PTSD, which affects others in different ways; or example, using video games to keep them occupied, spending money due to the lack of impulse control because of changes in their brain, and even not obtaining another job.…

Abortion Persuasive Speech It is not a mother’s right to choose but a child’s right to life. At three months the child inside of you is alive and living with a heartbeat. Why should it be okay to kill that innocent child? Should it be okay of us to kill others? Pope John Paul the II once stated that a nation that kills its own young is a nation without hope. Abortion is wrong. It is an inhumane use of birth control and it should be illegal in all states.…

    Death Penalty Speech

I believe that the death penalty form of punishment should be abolished because it is inhumane. The quote by Mahatma Gandhi says, “An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind”. Revenge never solves anything; it only makes the matter worse. It means an endless cycle of violence. The death penalty sends the wrong message to people. Does killing a killer any more right than killer killing someone? There are more effective ways of dealing with the murderers. Death penalties are probably too good for the prisoners. With a death sentence, the suffering is over in an instant, while a lifetime of imprisonment is suffering for a long time. In prison they are in a cage with an environment of violence and they are treated like animals. Also the death penalty is pointless because it won’t bring the victims back to life. Revenge and hate will not cure their sickness. The only way to cure their emptiness of their hearts is to forgive and move on with your life, not just dwell in the past. Death penalties usually cost several times of that keeping them in jail for life. The U.S. court goes through a whole deal of trouble before allowing a death sentence to be carried out. Appeals, hearings, briefs, and so on take out a lot of the judge’s time, which can be used for other matters. Think for an example of a terrorist. Do you think they would rather be killed by a bullet instantly and become a martyr or suffer humiliation in prison for the rest of their lives? For example, let’s just say Osama bin laden’s death. Would it be better if he was killed instantly with a bullet, or be humiliated in an American prison and possibly obtain…

As the third speaker of the Negative team, I strongly oppose to this resolution, Resolved, That Death Penalty Be Restored in the Philippines. Why? Because Death Penalty deprives people the right to life. In Article II, Section11 of the 1987 Philippine Constitution states: "The State values the dignity of every human person and guarantees full respect for human rights". The Commission on Human Rights has opposed the enactment of any law re-imposing the death penalty law in the Philippines on the ground that it offends the dignity of human person and human rights. The abolition of the death penalty by the 1987 Constitution was a very big step towards a practical recognition of the dignity of every human being created to the image and likeness of God, and of the value of human life from its conception to its natural end. Every human being has the inherent right to life and this right must be protected by law. However, this right is not as sacrosanct and inviolable as it sounds. The main principle in human rights law is that no-one shall be arbitrarily deprived of life. Amnesty International (www.amnestyinternational.org. retrieved January 18, 2013) states, “The death penalty violates the right to life.” Capital punishment contradicts our moral beliefs and claims of a fair and just government. This makes the death penalty our most fundamental human rights violation. It is the denial of the most basic human rights. The Illinois Coalition to Abolish the Death Penalty (www.icadp.org retrieved January 15, 2013) states, “We don’t cut off the hands of thieves to protect property; we do not stone adulterers to stop adultery. We consider that barbaric. Yet we continue to take life as a means of protecting life.” No person, government-affiliated or not, has the right to decide if another human is worthy or unworthy of life. Our natural rights as humans, which cannot be taken away by the government, include the right to…
