Over centuries, dating back to ancient Egypt, there have been hundreds of thousands of different variations of zoos (Fravel). Zoos “have entertained millions with exotic animals behind bars” and continue to do the same in the modern day and age of zoos (Fravel). However, wild animals are not meant to be domesticated. For decades there have been thousands of serious zoo related incidents resulting in threatening situations, critical injuries, and even death because the animal enclosures were not secured properly and failed to keep animals and visitors separate from one another .
