Dead Pipes

He gently brought the small instrument to his lips, as if the slightest touch could cause a schism in the body of it. Before he played, he looked into her deceitful, deep green eyes. He could not see the gleeful memories they once made together. All he could see now was an individual that he had once cherished, and now detested. Although she betrayed his trust, he believed that the only reasonable choice of payback, was to return the favor in the most beastly way possible. Little did she know that by breaking his heart, she had unleashed the monster he used to be. He knew there had to be a humongous price to pay for a sin such as this. Earlier that day, the young man had gone to the towns wizard, Muggle Heiney, and bought a sleeping potion. The power of this potion varied.

The transfer would only work with a female, so he was safe. All he has to do is play a simple tune to lure her into a deep sleep. A sleep that would last five hundred years. He began to play quietly, as he did not wish to hurt her ears. Soon after he began to play much louder, he noticed something. Everything around him was turning black. The trees, the grass, the sky, and even the prettiest birds, utterly black. \ He ignored the fact and proceeded to play. A few moments later, the women dropped to her knees as if she had been struck by something. She was not simply drifting off to sleep though. She was rotting. Decomposing from the inside and out. Something was not quite right about what was going on. She was now lying on her deathbed and he could do nothing about it. At this moment, he then concluded he had already forgiven her. He just wanted to pursue vengeance on those who had done him wrong. He truly did still care for her. But it is too late to fix anything. She is too far gone to be saved. With his face in tears, he decided to walk away from the scene of the homicide and go into town. He anticipated this would take his mind off of everything. He could not have

    In the beginning, we find out that Mrs. Mallard is afflicted with heart trouble, and news about her husband’s death is brought to her “as gently as possible” (45). Her sister Josephine and her husband’s friend Richards, who bring the news to her, believe that Mrs. Mallard will be very sad and upset and think that once she hears the news she will become even more ill.
