    Howard Becker’s labeling theory starts off by identifying the deviant. Once you get caught doing something, you are identified and labeled for it; it can either be formal as labeled under the law or informal as in labeled with in family and friends. For example, I had two very good friends in high school, Serafin and Brian. They were best buds and always did everything together. Like many teenagers in high school they started to experiment with drugs. Like every other day they would both go smoke weed and get high in the alley afterschool. No one ever walked through the alley unless you were doing drugs or something but that day the police were roaming around the block because a robber had broke into someone’s house, Serafin and Brian happened to be at the wrong place at the wrong time. The cops drove through the alley and had seen both of them smoking, their first reaction was to run but where? When there wasn’t anywhere to run, it was a dead end. So they quickly jumped tried to jump the fence while Brian jumped the fence successfully and got to runaway, Serafin wasn’t so fortunate and ended up getting his pants stuck to the fence. As soon as Serafin got arrested he was immediately identified and labeled. As for Brian he didn’t get caught and never got labeled even though he was there and performing the same deviant actions as Serafin.…

    Although Wes and the other Wes Moore both grew up in the same city at the same time, the two men have many differences, such as their mother`s involvement, their fathers and the level of accomplishment. First, Wes (the author) had compassionate and an educated mother. His mother attended university of Washington D.C and she graduated from there. She took care of him as well as sending him to private school to get good education. Second, Wes (The author) lived with his father. His father was educated and had a job. One day Wes punched his sister Nikki after she bite him because he jabbed at her face. Then his father come to him and spoke about punching his sister. Wes`s father said him “it`s totally wrong to hit women, especially if she is your sister. Finally, Wes was succeeded and achieved his goals. He attended school through his childhood. He graduate from Valley Forge Military School College, as well as university of Hopkins and he completed his master degree. On the other hand, the other Wes Moore a had careless mother. His mother used to work every single day and she didn't know anything about his situation. Even though his mother went University of Hopkins and wanted to continue her education, she didn`t get the opportunity to continue it. Not only he had a careless mother, but he also had an alcoholic father. His father was a drug dealer. Due to this, Wes’s mother kicked his father out of the house, because she didn`t want her son to be drug dealer. Finally, the other Wes Moore wasn`t successful. He became drug seller as well as a murder. Due to this, he was sent to jail for life. Clearly, the type of parents that they had makes big differences.…

    Fred Hampton was born in Chicago the year of 1948; he grew up with his parents in Maywood a suburb in the city limits of Chicago. Hampton attended high school in the city of Chicago; he went to Proviso East High School. Fred Hampton would graduate in 1966 and future his educate himself in law at Trinton Junior College. While attending Trinton he decided to join the NAACP and was appointed leader of the youth council organizations west suburban branch. In November of 1968 Hampton went on to establish the Chicago chapter of the Black Panther Party. When he opened up the chapter he offered the provision of free breakfast for school children. He also used the chapter to provide medical attention to patients free of charge. To help the community he taught political education classes and instigated a community control of police project. One of Fred Hampton greatest achievements came in 1969 when he persuade the most powerful street gangs to stop fighting, he called it the Nonaggression Pact. The same year he went on to form the Rainbow Coalition a multiracial alliance of blacks, Puerto Ricans, and poor youth. That same year Hampton was arrested for stealing $71 worth of sweets that he allegedly gave away to the local children, the charges was later dropped. In 1969 the panther’s party started to gain interest from the FBI’s J Edger Hoover. The headquarters on West Monroe Street was raided three times in one year and over 100 members were arrested. In the early hours on December 4, 1969 the panther party headquarters was raided again for the fourth time. The police claimed that the panther party opened fire first and a shoot out took place. Afterwards ballistics evidence revealed that only one bullet had been fired by the panthers, meaning nearly 100 shots came from the police. During the shoot out Fred Hampton and Mark Clark was killed, witness claimed Hampton was wounded in the shoulder and then executed by a shoot to the…

The autobiography The Other Wes Moore takes a look at two boys with the same name and eerily similar circumstances who end up in very different places in life. Not everyone who knew of the famous evangelist liked him. Plenty of outspoken critics spoke of his flashy style and criticized his conservative doctrines. But he had hundreds of thousands, perhaps millions, of loyal defenders, and they were just as loud in their praise as the critics were in their criticism. Whether people stood for or against the Reverend William A. Sunday, they all agreed that it was difficult to be indifferent toward him. The religious leader was so extraordinarily popular, opinionated, and vocal that indifference was the last thing that he would get from people. His most loyal admirers were confident that this rural-breed preacher was God 's mouthpiece, calling Americans to repentance. Sunday 's critics said that at best he was a well-meaning buffoon whose sermons vulgarized and trivialized the Christian message and at worst he was a disgrace to the name of Christ (Dorsett 2). There are elements of truth in both of these views. He was often guilty of oversimplifying biblical truths, and at times he spoke more out of ignorance than a heavenly viewpoint.
