As I have gained experience over the years working and volunteering in the mental health field, I have come to the realization that I have an overwhelming passion for working with individuals in need of social, emotional and physical support. If I were given the opportunity to become a DFPS Statewide Intake Worker, my greatest challenge would be ensuring that the children and adults in the home are receiving the appropriate love and attention that they need from their caregivers. As a family oriented individual, I believe that success begins in the home. My goal as a DFPS worker would be to help ensure that the people in need and their family can be successful, even in the most difficult situations. By successful, I am referring to the family receiving the support and resources they need from the community. I have been working with children in various settings for years. My experience ranges from child care to substance abuse case management services at ages 3-19. The most relatable experience I have to this job opening is currently working as a substance abuse case manager for adolescents. As a case manager I frequently collaborate with the Department of Juvenile Services (court judges, probation officers, diversion workers, Family in Need of Services workers and the Louisiana Department of Child and Family …show more content…
