ABSTRACT

This final year project aims to present an application that is able to deal with the comparing and modification of the metadata of the database. The application “Database Differentiator” works on databases i.e. it will compare the metadata of two databases and will generate SQL patch files.

In this application the comparison is done on the metadata i.e. structure of the database and not on the data of the database. Comparison has been provided by, taking database as the input, comparing the database tables, views, procedures, triggers. and the giving there difference as output in the patch file. Modification is done after comparing and catching suitable differences.

The project is aimed to develop handheld software for the Maintenance team of the Software Developing Company to look after, compare and to control the changes in the metadata of the database.
