Dance-Personal Narrative
They called the team name from the front of the judge booth. “Seymour Tigers, you may take the mat!” The nerves were rushing through all of us. The adrenaline kicked in and we got on the mat cheering and yelling variations of “Go Seymour!” or “We got this girls!” I know who said “We got this.”. It was Emily, who in the beginning was across from me; she gave me a nod and mouthed “Good Luck”. Other girls on the team gave each other the same look of reassurance too. Suddenly, the arena that had been filled with noise was now silent as a grave, waiting for us to move. Waiting for the music to start. I hear the music and we begin. Stunts hit, and tumbling hits as well. During our cheer chants, I yelled as loud as my voice my voice could go. We were almost done with the routine. All we needed was the dance, which was my favorite part. At the end, we gave the largest smiles to the point where I thought my …show more content…

I was shaking with excitement, congratulating and saying “Good job you guys were great!” Or “I love your bows!” I had to let the idea that there is a 50% chance of going to Disney. I somehow knew that when we got to the arena, we would win something. We all stood in front of the crowd, waving to our parents in the back corner of seats on our left side. We all are standing and dancing to the music they put on to get us moving to calm our nerves. The judges, mostly smile and nod towards each other then back at all the teams. As if they were looking for a team or person. We all stopped dancing when the music stopped. We sat in a circle and held hands. Waiting until the other teams were sitting down and listen to the speaker near the judge’s booth. Then once again the arena became silent in

“I want to be a ballerina princess”. You see, the difference between a regular princess and a ballerina princess is the elegance. Ballerinas held an elegance and ferocity during performances that were sensational. On the other hand, Disney princesses always had their happy endings and by combining both, my goal was set. Soon enough, ballet performances and Disney movies about princesses clouded my practicality with absurd idealism.…

Spring show is just a small showcase of all the dances we have done throughout the year and anyone was welcome to come and watch. Leading up to the show we didn't really practice much because we already knew our dances like the back of our hands so we only had practice the week of. Practice was good that week except for the last day, on the day of spring show, Kaitlyn Underwood decided not to show up to practice in the morning. Everyone was trying to call her but about halfway through practice my coach decided to just take her out of every dance and change everything. It was super stressful for all the girls on the team considering that the show was that night and we only had an hour to practice all the new changes. Everything worked out by the show and our routines actually looked pretty good considering the circumstances. I also got awarded freshman of the year because of my determination and improvement I showed throughout the season. My coach that year also quit which was probably for the best, even though she was a great person she didn't really know how to be a good coach which was…

I really enjoyed reading your essay and I could identify myself in many points there. I was also a very shy girl and I used to love dance! I didn't go so far as you in my dance classes, but it is very interesting the way you describe how you were able to communicate through the dance everything you couldn't through the words. you really touched me with your essay as I could picture myself as that little girl. I just think you could make you argument a little more clear for readers that don't have the same degree of identification as me and you could include also a little more censorial description to get the readers more involved about the importance of dancing in your life and what kind of sensations dancing used to bring to you. Overall,…

Then, we went onto the basketball court to stretch. As the students filed in one by one, we got into formation and ran over the cheers and the dance. My class, which was the seventh grade, made sure to sit on the front row to cheer Macy and I on. My squad started to get into formation, then I knew it was about to get real. We started out with the cheer “We’re Here’, then went into “It’s Great (Gracie’s Cheer).” Then we started chanting “DJH All the Way” which meant for us to get into our dance formation. I was inexplicably nervous, but I made sure not to let that show. We made it through the dance with ease, then it was time to introduce the boys. Mrs. Quinn told us that every time that they called a football boys name out, two of us had to go out and do a jump or tumbling pass.…

Sure, we were being judged based on equipment and dance technique at competitions, but any judge could feel the sincerity of a guard that performed to their fullest ability. On the mat, my only goal was to connect and share exactly how I felt with the audience. My only goal was to give them a performance they would remember. And I wasn’t alone. My whole team was behind me, performing their hardest along side me, whispering things as we passed like “You got this,” “This is our best one yet,” and “Keep going.” All of my most treasured memories were made on that mat with the same group of girls, whether it was in a stunning performance or a grueling rehearsal. We knew everything about each other, how to make each other laugh, what each of our strengths were, how to tell what sort of mood we were in before we said a word, how to cheer each other up. I knew that the girls behind me weren’t just my team, but my family, my fallback, my network that would support me no matter what our score was at the end of the day.…

Ever since I was young I remember dance always being one of those things that was always there when I needed it. Everyday I looked forward to going to class and working hard, doing my best to get better everyday. I officially started dancing when I was three, however, it wasn’t until I got to the age of around 10 or 11. This was about a year after I moved to Kansas City and when I just started going to the Kansas City Ballet. The whole experience changed my point of view completely over not just dance but ballet to. I would definitely not be where I am today if it wasn’t for moving to KCB.…
