Dan Foreman Synergy In Popular Culture
Dan Foreman, currently in his 50s was the head of sales and also an advertising executive of a major sports magazine, Sports America. He and the company faces a life changing event when it is being bought down by an international company that encourages the corporate concept “Synergy”, GlobeCom. Dan, is demoted to the wingman of his new business school prodigy boss, which is half of his age, Carter Duryea and he is also forced to fire some of his colleagues that were working in the company for half of their lives. While Dan develops clients through the classic way, such as building relationships and bonds, Carter focuses on the “Synergy” principles hoping to cross-promote the magazine with the cell phone division at the same time (MovieWed, n.d.).

During the speech, Dan questioned Teddy K and it shrugged him off. Carter’s boss, Mark, then tells Carter to fire off Dan. Carter refuses because he knows that if they fire Dan, it will make them loose a major advertising contract. After persuading Mark, Mark decides to give them 24 hours to seal the contract or Dan leaves the company. Because Dan has previously developed a strong bond with the client, Carter decides to step aside and let Dan use his strategy. At last, the deal is sealed and Dan remained in the company (Staebler, n.d.).
In the ending of the movie, Sports America is then sold off and Carter got fired while Dan, returns to his former position as the head of sales. Because Dan have actually developed fatherly feelings towards Carter, he decides to offer him a position as his new ‘wingman’. Carter did not take up the offer because he claims that he needs to take a break from work and find out what he really wants to do with his
