In Panama City Beach, Florida a young woman was raped as many bystanders watched and videotaped the crime. I know that I am to write about a current event happening around the world but I feel that this is an example of women being victimized and it being considered unimportant. I have not watched the video. I know it was during spring break for many college students including women so that means those young ladies watched as well. The unimportance comes from the deep rooted philosophy that women are second class citizens. Although, many of us are the head of household or working the same job as a man but making less. Looking on BBC world news there is always an article reporting some type of mistreatment towards women. There is an article in Africa that 19 out of 20 rapes go unreported. Recently in Kenya a trio that raped a young lady received 15 years. In England a woman was raped after getting a lift home. The list can go on and on, not only in present time but years back. The greatest country in world USA always speaks about the Middle East and how women should have equal treatment when USA does not practice watch they preach. We have progressed more than many other countries. But For example I have 5 girlfriends whom I am very close with and 3 out of the women was raped and never reported the crime.
In Panama City Beach, Florida is an example to the world how far we have to go in reaching just the basic civil rights to all. The act of rape alone must be a very humiliating and degrading act. The young lady had hundreds watching her and videotaped it like its normal. Our world as a long way to go with not only woman rights, civil rights and basic human rights. No one is better than anyone else we are all beings with a soul and a purpose.

Based on the article ‘After Gang Rape of Girl, 16, First a Fine, and Then a Murder’ written by Kai Schultz. Throughout my entire reading of the essay, it is crystal clear that the article focuses on the criminal cases that happen in the country. It is quite shocking as the number of cases increasing day by day, most of the criminal cases involving the violence, murdered and rape cases towards women. The author begins the article by stating the recent gang rape and killing that happen in that country and state the weakness of the recent government in handling the sexual assault in the country. Kai Schultz drives most of his argument in explaining that even crimes happened, the people would take advantage at the victim.…

The report indicated the girl was dragged from college party to party by male students and repeatedly raped. The report stated the males in the video were not present during the rapes, but it showed the men standing over the girl jokingly making crass and offensive comments about her state of consciousness. The news report without the video would contain the same horrific accounting of the events that occurred. The inclusion of the video with the audio of the comments the men made, perpetuates the objectification of and violence against women and in the media. Sexual and violent exploitation of women permeates the news, television programming, and movies. The media, especially news sources should avoid advancing stereotypical graphic depictions of women being subject to the whims of men. Promoting the stereotype that women are the weaker sex through showing unnecessary videos taken by males lacking human empathy and decency further desensitizes the public in ascertaining appropriate and moral behavior toward…

Krakauer shows examples of that in Missoula when the women in the cases talk about how they are afraid to report their perpetrators. In the author’s note of Missoula, Krakauer talked about a survey conducted by the CDC in 2011. He shortly afterwards states that “19.3 percent of American women “have been raped in their lifetimes” and that 1.6 percent of American women-- nearly two and a half million individuals-- “reported that they were raped in the 12 months preceding the survey.” Maybe women are afraid they will be slut shamed, or called a liar. Or in like Allison Huguette's case, maybe the guy was well liked and it would be hard for people to believe that he committed such a crime. All college students need to be aware of these issues. Regardless of why women aren’t reporting these crimes, Missoula sends out a message that rape should always be reported in order to prevent it from happening again. If every college student were required to read Missoula, they would know that rape is a real life issue that happens all the time, and they would know what to do if they ever found themselves in a rape related…

Rapist can threaten them, pay them off, kill them or a family member, etc. In Brock Turner’s case, the school pressured the female swim team to stay silent, saying ‘they didn’t witness any crime that Brock had committed’. This happens in many college cases. Where the school failed to protect the victim and in turn help the attacker, because they don’t want to have a bad reputation, or they don’t want to get the attacker into trouble because they’re bringing money to the school. Which makes sense considering “During their freshman year of college 15 percent of women are raped”. The researchers found “18 percent of students said they'd been raped while incapacitated before college, and 41 percent of those young women were raped again while incapacitated during their freshman year” (Jeff Nesbit). Which is an alarming number what brings society to wonder why women won’t report it. The answer is simply society has to remember women won’t report because they don’t want to lose their…

I read an article on Wall Street Journal about the Justice Department investigating the police force in Ferguson, Missouri. They suspect possible misconduct or discrimination against the 18-year-old, Michael Brown, who was shot by one of Ferguson’s Police officer, Darren Wilson. There is still question to whether the officer is charged or not. Ferguson and surrounding areas will be analyzed on their police training and policies. The Ferguson police force welcomes the investigation and analyzing so that they can improve in any way they need to serve the community better. Further investigation in this will help ease the Ferguson community and feel like they can trust their local police force. If there were not any more investigation, this would cause a lot of uneasiness upon the people of Ferguson. They expect thorough investigation to be done so that they know for sure what really happened and if the Ferguson police force is actually discriminating against the minorities in their community or not. The police force may be at fault for approaching situations the wrong way and coming off as discriminating with the community members.…

Only four countries have completely achieved gender equality, that’s four in 135. In most countries crimes against women go more unnoticed than crimes against men. It is believed because women are attacked more than men that it desenstizes people. Just like in the Handmaid’s Tale when the had the salvageings people weren’t shocked when it happened because it happened alot. In the book women had nothing and had to ask to do anything, if they disobeyed orders they were at the mercy of their commander…

I am going to talk to you about a growing issue which is plaguing the United States it is eating away at the very heart of our great nation. When we hear about this topic it is primarily known as women’s issues that some good men help out with. This is not a women’s issue this is a man’s issue, when we as men start to turn a blind eye we are just as guilty as the person committing the crime. The issue I am talking about is sexual violence, when given this assignment I had already been following a blog called Project Unbreakable. You see about six months ago I became a sexual assault victim advocate and I am nationally registered with the National Organization for Victim Assistance, although I work with military personnel I am certified to work with the civilian population. This essay is not only to evaluate a blog website but to ensure that the brave women who share their stories openly are heard and not silenced.…

Imagine walking to your car in an empty parking lot late at night after dinner. A man walks by and hollers at you. He slowly walks up to you and pushes you against the car. Before you know it, he comes on to you and you are trying to get away, but it doesn’t work. After he is done and has left you call the police. After a few days comes the trial. They ask the woman what she was wearing, she said “ I was wearing a fitting dress that came to about mid thigh”. They told her if she hadn’t been wearing such a revealing outfit, she wouldn’t have been raped. Imagine being told it was your fault for being raped. How would you feel? What would you do? The dress code girls have to follow are too strict and are teaching girls and women to be afraid of men and boys and what they will do based on your clothing.…

I do not agree with these concepts. The victim that I described below had nothing to do with her being rape. Some criminals have no mercy for other people and how they would cope with a bad situation after they have scared the victim for life. I was reading an article online which consists of an Administration Clerk of a state prison. It all happened in 2013 when a 24-year-old woman was raped for approximately 27 minutes by a former inmate at the prison she worked at. The inmate foes by the name Omar Best. Best is incarcerated for having multiple rape cases. The staff member was on a secure floor where she had no contact with any inmates. Her superintendent felt the need to move the offices to an unsecure area where contact with inmate was made during work hours. Inmate Best acted as if he was taking the trash out when he attacked the victim until she…

As a student that lives on campus I believe that there is a discrimination and inequality against women. There is a student that had the courage to come out and file a title IX against UAB for the lack to protection and treatment for raped victims. There were students that come out in support to the fellow students, other raped victims that were also failed by the UAB system also came out in support and are willing to share their story as well. However, there were students that disapproved the student’s action to file the title IX calming UAB promise towards the students has never been broken and women clams of rapes are false charges, students believed that women called rape as a way to label the regret for intercourse. There is still inequalities…

Rape cases that are explained and shown in/on the news, courts, and in popular culture/media are portrayed in a number of different ways. Some rape cases are exposed to bring awareness of such act that happens in domestic violence and sexual assaults. Some are exposed as news coverage to inform their readers, listeners, and views what is going in society when the act of rape is a very serious issue to the lives of the victims. There are some cases that there are some justice of rape only if there is some kind of proof that a victim was rapes by their perpetrator. There are some instances where some perpetrators can actually get away with a rape case on them, which I believe is not fair to the victim. Based on what we hear, watch, and listen…
