1.1 - It is a way of saying that you are responsible for the welfare of yourself and of others. If you ignore this duty, you are breaking the rules. These rules are set to ensure nobody is missed or forgotten about, and is primarily about preventing accidents. To explain what it means, it means you are responsible for people's well-being.
1.2 - When caring for the elderly, or anyone who is unable to care for themselves, besides meeting their physical, emotional, and spiritual needs, a major duty is ensuring their safety and protecting them from injuries or from those who would take advantage of them. You must always be their advocate and everything you do must be in their best interest.

    1.1 A duty of care is a legal obligation imposed on an individual requiring that they adhere to a standard of reasonable care while performing any acts that could foreseeably harm others. It’s a requirement to exercise a reasonable degree of attention and caution to avoid negligence which could lead to harm to others. For me as a support worker it basically means I have a duty of care to protect any service users in my care from significant harm; this will be achieved using the standards that I have learned from the many courses that I have attended.
