CSR Perspective
Here is my perspective after watching “Corporate social responsibility” video last week
Frist of all, I think CSR is the good way to firms development sustain. In other word CSR is a way for companies to benefit themselves while also benefiting society. In today as consumer’s awareness about global social issues continues to grow, so does the importance these consumers place on CSR when choosing where to shop. CSR plays an importance role effect to consumer decision when they paid for any product. People want to feel good about what their dollar is doing.
On primary focus of CSR is the environment. Now a day global warmth, climate change. People considerably concern with environment where they live in whether it’s harmful their life and living environment. Business, both large and small, have a large carbon footprint. Any steps they can take to reduce those footprints are considered both good for the company and society as a whole. In reality, many companies awoke to it only after being surprised by public responses to issues they had not previously thought were part of their business responsibilities. Shell Oil’s decision to sink the Brent Spar, an obsolete oil rig, in the North Sea led to Greenpeace protests in 1995 and to international headlines. Then, they have done much to improve the social and environmental consequences of their activities. In contrast, B&Q Warehouse is typically for doing well CSR. B&Q is aware of the best way sustaining development is CSR. One of the easiest places for a company to start engaging in sustainability is to use it as a way to cut cost. B&Q used reducing water system in toilet or auto turning of light system in the offices.
Besides, a company’s CSR strategy is a big factor in where today’s top talent chooses to work. By treating employees fairly and ethically, or training program for new employees, companies can also demonstrate their corporate social responsibility.     CSR strengthens brand loyalty. Consumers that value CSR will view a business more positively, and as a result their positive opinions will cause them to be more loyal to the brand. Part of being CSR is ensuring the well-being of workers. If the workers and staff are happy and safe, they are more likely to increase productivity. The benefits of CSR also tend to come gradually. As a result, for some companies, these long-term benefits are not desirable because they want immediate results. Without the necessary time, money and patience, participating in CSR could actually harm a business. Being CSR may also deviate from the focus of a business. CSR initiatives must be carefully planned and executed to ensure positive results and good public relations.     In organizations, social responsibility is a system of self-regulation that businesses have implemented as part of their corporate integrity. CSR stimulates organizations to developed the means necessary to observe the “public’s social perception of them as a responsible business” (Davis).
