The date was June 14, 2034. I was flying to London, England with my private jet. It was a beautiful day. The clouds were puffy and white, the sun was shining, and there was no wind. Then all of a sudden, there was a lot of turbulence. The plane was going crazy going left, then right, then back to the left. My pilot told me to not panic and that everything is going to be fine, but I was having cold feet. The turbulence became so wild, the pilot announced that the plane will have to land on the nearest ground.…

I find great interest in the Egyptian culture. The culture goes back through time. Sayre (2013) stated, “Egypt’s continuous cultural tradition—lasting over 3,000 years—is history’s clearest example of how peace and prosperity go hand in hand with cultural stability” (p. 28).…

He had been appointed chief financial officer (CFO) of Electro Scientific Industries, Inc. (ESI), a multi-million dollar equipment manufacturer, just a few weeks earlier. Okumoto was in the midst of closing the company’s books for the third quarter of fiscal year 2003, which ended February 28.…

In order to speak on Humanities, there must be a clear view on what the meaning of it is. Humanities are a clear investigation of human beings and how they act, which includes their self-expression and their culture. The purpose of this paper is to explain how humanities replicate changing concepts of life and individuals in diverse historical periods. In today's civilization, human beings are ignorant to the history of our people. Our ancestors have contributed too many areas that we participate in frequently. In the play “The Crucible” Arthur Miller brings out the theme of conflict between good and evil. Miller brings out this theme using the characters in the play. At the start of the play Abigail Williams and other village girls are found dancing and running naked in the woods and the town people sees them as good, not evil this is because the girls are deflecting their punishment for dancing by telling the name of the women who were witches, actually they were convicting the women they don’t like. For Example: Abigail Williams who was in love with John Proctor but since John was married to Elizabeth, Abigail blames that Elizabeth is a witch too and must be hanged. The people who were convicted of witchcraft are the evil people in the eyes of villagers unless they confess to compact with the devil. This shows that the people who are good and the people who are evil have switched identities, good are evil and evil are good.…

My name is Guy Johanson, and I am a sophomore Music Education major at the Setnor School of Music. I am originally from Liverpool, NY, just outside of Syracuse. I have been involved with Syracuse University since the time I was in middle school participating in youth ensembles playing the French Horn and the Oboe. Currently I am a member of the Syracuse University Marching Band, Tau Beta Sigma (the national band sorority), and am usually playing with many ensembles around campus. I work at Old Navy in Destiny USA during school breaks, while during the school year I work at the Cathedral Academy at Pompey as an after school music program teacher. My strongest skill that I possess, I believe, is my ability to time manage. Throughout the past year and a half, I have learned to balance 19+ credits, sorority involvement, and working two jobs during the year.…

“And being what she is, a lump of vanity, sir- . . . She thinks to dance with me on my wife’s grave! And well she might, for I thought of her softly. God help me, I lusted, and there is promise in such sweat. But it is a whore’s vengeance, and you must see it:” (Miller 102). The Crucible by Arthur Miller shows greed and vengeance of the Salem townspeople in 1692. Miller is trying to show the government what they are doing with the communism trials and why they are so unfair. The witch trials closely mimic the communist trials in that the root of it was selfishness and greediness. Most of these characters actually lived and some of these events actually happened. Arthur Miller wrote this play to show the people what was going on was wrong. Protagonist, John Proctor, antagonist, Abigail Williams, Reverend Parris, Thomas Putnam and many others hold grudges, are immature, and selfish because of their long-term burning desire for revenge. Events happening in their life now are adding fuel to the fire.…

The event that most interested me was the slave trader video. How they took a prince and broke him. He still was able to survive and still run a plantation just like the tribe he was from. It must take a lot of self will to survive in the conditions they were put in on the boat, then to get off and still be no better than cattle. Though slavery was equally as tragic and traumatic for black men and women, the experience of slavery affected them in different ways. "Depending upon their age and gender, slaves were assigned a particular task, or tasks, that had to be completed during the course of the day." In certain settings, men would participate in the hard labor, such as working on the farm, while women would generally work in the household. They would "be sent out on errands, but in most cases their jobs required that they spend much of their time within their owner's household." These gender distinctions were mainly applied in the Northern colonies and on larger plantations. In Southern colonies and smaller farms, however, women and men typically engaged in the same roles, both working in the tobacco crop fields.…

One definition of the word “crucible” is a severe test. In the crucible by Arthur Miller, John Proctor faces different test. Throughout The Crucible, John's moral values are tried. Before the book starts, John committed adultery by sleeping with Abigail. But as the Salem Witchcraft Trials progresses, he is forced to choose between just watching the trials happen, or doing something to stop it. Towards the end of the play, he had to choose between whether or not to lie and save his life, or die with a shred of goodness still intact in him, along with all the other respected people of Salem such as Rebecca Nurse and Martha Corey. Nursing has always been a passion for me, something about the gratification from helping others regain optimal functionality is refreshing. I witnessed this feeling years ago when I had to honored of assisting my grandmother with her post care after having a triple bypass in 2003. Those moments of appreciation she showed me were priceless. In the next five years my nursing role will probably increase exponentially due to the increasing aging of the American population, which will result in an increased number of individuals needing medical assistance in their elderly years. In addition, my nursing role will expand and or increase due to the fact that the nursing shortage is predicted to continue to grow for the next 10 years or more if not curtailed, which will place increasing responsibility on nurses to administer to the needs of more patients, as well as to assume the management role of supervising newer nursing staff. In addition, an increasing number of patients will place more burden on the limited number of doctors that are available, which will require that nurses assume an increasing role in assisting physicians in carrying out treatment procedures.…
