"Crosseyed Heart" REVIEW

Richard`s Rocking

PROS

+ A Still very easy-going voice from Keith Richards. It isn`t disrupted.

+ Production & composition of tracks within "Crosseyed Heart" do a good job at holding it`s ground in

It`s a slick record that doesn`t do much. Especially comparing to material Richard`s has crafted in the past, directly in Rolling Stones. Overall a plain record that doesn`t sound terrible. It just doesn`t have kick or flair.

- Unfortunately this record doesn`t hold substantial tracks. It`s not even one of those records with a few greats and most bad. However that also works in it`s favor by never falling in out of it`s "decent" play through. A writer at AllMusic said something around the lines of music that "Crosseyed Heart" didn`t seem to have time put into it, and I must agree.

Minor Con: There may be a bit of inconsistency on tracks. First noticed when "Love Overdue" shows up. A Reggae blended track right after the bumpy "Trouble". It`s a bit odd.
6.2/10

[Essential Tracks: "Trouble". "Robbed Blind", & "Something For Nothing"]

Final Thoughts: Praise it`s clean production and a few bustling tracks. The record though is dragged down by it`s lack of strong material.

Throughout the movie there were some negative things that were present within it. Some of these were how the songs would just randomly begin and could make a certain scene loose its significance and meaning, the plot itself seemed to be a bit predictable and disappointing until a plot-twist occurred. The ending of the movie I found confusing and a cliché. Although there were a few negative aspects present in the movie I still believe it was a successful movie and quite enjoyable.…

This piece is evidence of what Bonnie C. Wade would call "glocalization" (also known as global localization). Wade stated that "globally shared music is constantly recontextualized by those who listen to it, given new meanings, and made to perform new as well as the same old functions" (Wade pp. 19). When I first listened to the piece, I did not get that meaning. To me, this is a beautiful song with an upbeat feel. It is light and can easily be danced to.…

Wilco’s band recorded their record Yankee for Hotel Foxtrot in unique ways. One thing that stands out the most is the fact that the band produced, engineered and completely put the record together on their own. They considered the record to be an experiment and spent a lot of time changing things up with the music until they got their desired results. After waking the movie “I am Trying to Break Your Heart”,if I were to be the band manager, I would maybe consider handling some things in a different way.…

Although this album differs from Alicia Keys previous albums I thought that it held good purpose in developing some of the political issues and movements she talks about. To emphasize the meaning of HERE Keys released a short film titled The Gospel, which addresses the police brutality in New York City. The 23-minute film represents the New York in which Keys grew up in and features a series of four-chapters about growing up there. This album as a whole I felt was a success due to her effort to incorporate so much awareness for the things that she cares about. While HERE is definitely a presentational album and not participatory for obvious reasons I think that many listeners can relate to the issues she addresses and appreciate the work that she has done (Turino). In conclusion, this album adds a new aspect to the types of music that she typically performs, adding a “grittier R&B edge” along with incorporating sounds from the streets of New York to represent herself…

One thing that this album has that no other album I have heard has is that The Incredible True Story actually has a story. It takes place in the future as two narrators search for a planet called paradise after the destruction of the earth. While they are on the search of this planet they are listening to “oldies” which is this album. Logic tells this story through four short skits throughout the album.…

Ralph has chosen this song as he loves it. It's a song he'd love to be able to play on guitar. Ralph has stated he loves to play his guitar. However he gets frustrated when he try's to play it on his own. He often has his guitar out when he is relaxing in the unit and has stated he wants to write a song about his mum. Ralph actually sung part of a song he had thought up. The lyrics were very warm towards his mum. However this song was very short and maybe if Ralph gets better at the guitar with these lessons he will be able to put a whole song together about his mum. This would be a very positive event as Ralph finds it very difficult to talk about his family at all.…

I mean there are the fun dance songs that aren’t meant to be cried to (see “Gimme More”, “Get Naked”, “Freakshow”.) But even with them, the production is flawless and the vocals are so eccentric. You can’t beat the sass and attitude “Piece Of Me” delivers or even the sorrow on “Why Should I Be Sad?” that make you feel her pain. The bottom line is, though effects were imminently present, the vocals on this album are intriguingly intense and you don’t get that all the time with Pop Music. I would say the production and the vocals are most noticeably the strengths of this album. The only weakness, a slim weakness, is the materials’ lyrics. I only say this because I think some of the songs could have been written…

The first thing that set me off when giving these songs a try was the overwhelming instrumentals (heavy electric guitar and drum use) that made it hard to hear/understand the lyrics. Good instrumentals are important characteristics of a successful song, but don’t necessarily mean the song is bad without them. Next, I read along the lyrics while listening to the songs and I did not like the lyricism at all. The text spoke of death, agony, and other malicious acts being performed or felt by people.…

There are no major plot twists or turns and the story is one that has been done many times before. While both Nayoko and Kayo are cute there is very little character development in the game. The girls simply adhere to their respective stereotypes and quickly fall for Toru even though there is nothing particularly remarkable about him. This can be a little disappointing for players who actually play these types of games for the story while the lack of hentai scenes will obviously be a drawback for those who don’t really care about the story. There is nothing about the game that can be described as outright bad, but at the same time there is very little to set it apart from other titles in the genre. This is a pity as the setting is quite nice and had a lot of potential, but ultimately this is a title that is fun while it lasts, but quickly forgotten afterwards.…
