Chopping wood and doing whatever I could for Mayella Ewell was my only crime. I never harmed a soul. I risked my own safety by helping Mayella, and I did it because someone needed me. I'm a victim of my kindness. On the other hand, Mayella can't talk about true in her testimony. Everybody can understand that she is under pressure of her dad. She just repeats what her dad says. The way she sounds is like she had recited everything she said. But I shouldn't be here because of the racist beliefs of Maybom community, no I don't deserve that!
Some people are kind and would never harm anyone, like me. Yet, there are people who unjustly see past the kindness and simply see what they want to see. This leads to issues about race. These people than become prejudice towards certain people. Also, they may even "kill" the people who are genuinely kind human beings simply because they are different. Thus, I'm afraid that I am close this result.
I am a genuinely kind person and now I am being destroyed by my willingness to help Mayella Ewell. After being accused of rape, most of the people see me as an evil beast. During the trial, while Bob Ewell was testifying, he pointed at me and said, "I seen that black negro yonder ruttin' on my Mayella." According to Mr. Ewell, I am an animal who violated his daughter. Throughout the trial, I am portrayed in this manner because of the racist mentality of the people in Maycomb. Even though there is a sufficient amount of proof which shows I did not commit the crime, I am a black man who will be denied justice. Because in our courts, when it's a white man's word against a black man's, the white man always wins. The fact that no one realizes my unfair treatment makes me much more sorrowful. I am thinking about getting out of here, because no one will realize my unfair treatment!

Being a Black man in Maycomb, Alabama was difficult; Maycomb was a racist town with people who did not want the Blacks to be equal to the Whites. People discriminated Robinson’s race to the point where his race was what defined his character. The Whites in Maycomb had a mentality that all blacks were not to be trusted. A voice of reason and justice in Maycomb, Atticus is needed by the people of Maycomb. He is “trust[ed] to do right” (236) by the people of Maycomb. He is well respected and well off in such desperate times, but when he decides that he is actually going to defend Tom Robinson, earns much distaste toward himself from the town’s people. This, however, does not stop him. Atticus is very genuine and empathic, he sees both good and bad in each person but does not criticize them for the bad. Racism, which he has described as Maycomb’s disease, does not sit well with him. Atticus is a man with his own mindset and makes decisions based on his conscience, whereas others seem to follow the societal normalities like lemmings. In the novel, To Kill a Mockingbird, racism, “Maycomb’s usual disease” (Lee To Kill a Mockingbird 117) sends Mayella Ewell “stark raving mad”(88). All of the fear surrounding Mayella Ewell drives her into madness. Sitting on her porch, Mayella sees Tom Robinson, an African American man, walking by and asks if he would “come up and help her a minute” (192-193).
