Creative Writing: Christopher Columbus
I didn’t expect myself to like history. Sure, I enjoyed reading historical fiction novels, but I found history class drab and repetitive. The only thing that really stuck with me was Christopher Columbus. At the prime age of thirteen, I had stubbornly made up my mind that I would pursue a medical field, and that I would contribute to the ongoing goal of eradicating cancer.

This path that I had laid down underwent changes once I entered high school. A phenomenal AP United States History teacher with an endearing sense of humor and passionate rhetoric coupled with my growing participation in reading the news to become politically aware has led me to become interested in history. I am specifically interested in learning about the relationships

    The saga of old Geo. Ochenski continues. As Geo. sat on his rock, watching the Cadillac, getting smaller and smaller, until it was just a dot on the horizon before it disappeared over the hilltop. Slowly, oh so very slowly it came to the front of his mind. But, in the dim light of the 25 watt bulb, Geo was unable to understand it. Geo shook his head, in an effort to clear it. But, as with most things, Geo tried to do, it ended in failure. In shaking his head, Geo had accidentally turned on, the other 25 watt bulb on the right side of his brain, which he almost never used.
