September 21 2014 Should College Athletes Be Paid? The reasoning for doing this CRAAP assignment is to review articles that I have read to make sure the information given is both accurate and reliable. The article, “Why College Athletes Should Be Paid” by Tyson Hartnett, was written for the Huffington post. This article was written on October 21, 2013 but was lasted updated on January 1, 2014 making this article current. In this article, Tyson speaks about why college athletes deserve to be paid. This topic is relevant to both sides of the discussion. For example coaches, professional players, and college players will all be affected if the NCAA board chooses to pay college players. This will affect the coaches because all there athletes will be more focused on the money than the game. As a result, professional players will not make the same amount of money because there will be more people focused on watching college games. This can effect because NCAA since more players will have more motivation when playing since they could have the potential to make a lot more money based off of their performance. When witting this article, Tyson provided hyperlinks to prove to the reader that the information is factual. One example of this is when Tyson briefly speaks about the amount of revenue that the NCAA makes each year off college athletes. He provides the following hyperlink that links to the NCAA revenue page to make the information more reliable, (http://www.ncaa.org/wps/wcm/connect/public/NCAA/Finances/Revenue). Tyson Hartnett is an entrepreneur, writer and sales professional. The purpose of this article is to argue that pro athletes should be paid. Another example it is clear that this article is pro for paying college athletes can be found in the title of the article. The title is a strong indication that a reader would already know what stance the writer has chosen. There is no mistaking the purpose because
