1 INTRODUCTION
1.1 INDUSTRIAL OVERVIEW
Pharmaceutical industry is an important sector in the national economy, the production of functional medicine service of healing, restore and enhance human health.
In contrast to the downward trend of the world market, Vietnam's pharmaceutical market is maintaining growth. However, the pharmaceutical industry today largely on imported drugs. Domestic drug production can only meet 50% of market demand. In particular, the product structure of the domestic pharmaceutical enterprise is mainly non-prescription drugs.
Based on population size, the income is improved and the sense of healthcare is increasingly enhanced, we expect the growth of the pharmaceutical industry in Vietnam will continue to maintain over 10% / year over the period 2012-2017.
At 15 pharmaceutical companies in the sample, group's total assets reached 8,315 billion, total equity reached 4,947 billion at the end of 2011, turnovers of group in 2011 reached 10,344 billion dong, the profit after tax reached 903 billion, giving a margin return on average equity was 18.3%.
In term of revenue, companies have the largest revenue such as Hau Giang, Traphaco, Domesco, Imexpharm…. In Hau Giang pharmaceutical company that is the company business effectively while achieving the highest level of margin equity in 2011 amounted to 30% per year.
