Coquitlam Case Study Community Education
This report points out and recommends specific areas of Coquitlam that must be developed. Consequently, it provides information on current status of Coquitlam as well as a detailed explanation of why these particular sectors must be developed from a sociological perspective based on the assigned readings and secondary-research. Additionally, based on the evaluation, there are corresponding strategies to develop the community.

Currently, in Coquitlam, there are overarching needs for improvement in public education and sustainable local job market. According to the census tract Canada(2011), there are only four public secondary schools in Coquitlam while there are approximately 25,000 teenage residents. Additionally, only 25.3% of residents are employed within the city. These pose serious sociological risks in various ways. In order to mitigate these problems, Coquitlam must come up with strategic solutions to improve these sectors. The services of education are an essential need of almost all members of the community. Consequently, mass retail development occurs most frequently in developing cities that are turning into more urban cities. In this circumstance, elite developers abroad bring in their technology, knowledge, and expertise to turn the community's economy to their advantage. As a result, it is crucial that students are better educated to grow up and keep their economy growing in the interest of its own community. By offering more diversity in courses taught in public schools, students will be more aware of the negative sociological influence mass retail development has in the community. This will lead to a growing population of educated individuals looking to find alternatives to change their economy without being industrialized with mass

    Denton County’s status as a metropolitan city is interesting due it’s socioeconomic patterns. The county is in the state of Texas, where a large percentage of the population is not classified as urban, yet a large proportion of the land area is classified as urban.
