Katie and her mother don’t have the best relationship and at times it seems that Katie wishes that she would’ve been in the car accident with her father. This is a conflict because it seems as if Katie may blame her mother for the death of her father for making him go out while she stayed at home and took care of Katie. This causes a lot of tension between Katie and her mother because she also feels as though the death of her father might also be her fault. At the end of the play Katie and her mother appear to be closer to each other and her mother even apologizes for the things she’s done in the past and talks about Katie’s father. This is important because after years of not really speaking about him it shows that their mother is just starting to cope with his death. Her mother states…

REVIEW: Asghar Farhadi’s “A Separation” (Iran) When the great Akira Kurosawa created “Rashomon”, he challenged the nature of reality by having his characters recount their own versions of a single event. By doing so, Kurosawa managed to reveal not the truth but the underlying nature and motive of each character. Decades after this, Iranian filmmaker Asghar Farhadi creates “A Separation” – a film that echoes Kurosawa’s fascination for the truth while blinding the eyes of the characters with the intricate hands of the law. By doing so, Farhadi suspends the truth and directs his narrative towards what is deemed right in the eyes of the viewer. Religion plays a key factor in Farhadi’s fable: different characters are trying to do right while…

Divorce is generally caused by conflicts occurring from the financial struggle, property and a power in a relationship. “Conflict perspective explains how these problems arise and how they cause divorce by uncovering the perceptions, attitudes, and values of the culture that gives rise to the conflict”. Feminists support this idea by also arguing the center of the problem started from gender inequality which still presents today; the expectations for women to manage housework and childrearing while keeping her full-time occupation in the society, however, men are simply expected to work to support financially. After each partner realizes that they are in an unpassionate marriage, they start to seek for personal goals in their lives and decided…
