Greetings of peace!

The annual National eLearning Congress is a tradition of the Philippine eLearning Society
(PeLS).
It is a venue for academics, researchers, eLearning practitioners, industry training and development specialists, ICT education service providers gather in a spirit of collegiality, scholarly and best practice exchanges, friendly networking and insightful development in the field of eLearning.

In this tradition that the society promotes and advocates the transformative role of technology in uplifting the formal, non-formal and informal learning in the schools and industries in the country.

The theme of this year’s congress was "Aligning eLearning Capacities Toward An
Integrated
ASEAN" and was held on December 4-6, 2014 at the New CAS Auditorium,
University of the Philippines, Los Banos.

The society is grateful to the support of the UP Interactive Learning Center, the Globe
Education
Solutions and Nephila Web in making this year’s event fruitful.

The congress garnered over fifty submissions in the thematic lines of eLearning Processes, eLearning Products and eLearning Standards. The selected best papers in this proceedings will be invited to submit to the PeLS e-Journal.

We congratulate the papers that were included in this Compendium e-Proceedings for continuously pursuing research and diffusing creative know-hows in eLearning.

    Video games hold so much more potential than as sedentary entertainment for players. A handful of benefits can be garnered from video games including education, exercising, and team cohesion. These benefits can be used by individual players or schools, athletic teams, gyms and clubs. The theory for Games for Activating Thematic Engagement or GATE theory encourages games that foster metacognition and awareness and serves as an excellent paradigm for video educational video games to emulate. There are studies that support that educational video games can be just as effective as traditional teaching methods and in some cases even more effective.
