When you see two movie covers, do you notice what they have in common, or the things they do not have in common? In the movies War Dogs and Daddy’s Home, although they are completely different movies there are similarities shown between the covers of the two films.
In the cover for War Dogs, we see a heavy set full grown man, he has short brown hair slicked back while wearing a thick leather coat and a scarf. Below the thick coat he appears to be wearing dark brown business pants and a large ring on his right hand. He is staring straight ahead with a big smile on his face, holding a machine gun. Standing behind him we see another man wearing a thick coat and brown hair. He has his head turned downward while looking straight with his fingers in his

The smile on his face and the way he is walking with his elbows bent gives us the impression that he is confident in himself and ready to take on life. He is holding a bag of groceries in his right arm, which tells us that he is a responsible father. The red car to the left of him appears to be a family car which tells us that he is not a bachelor and probably has kids. The man on the right is a tougher looking man wearing a tight black shirt so that his biceps show. His head tilted slightly downward with a grin tells us that he is probably upset with someone. He looks really relaxed with his arms crossed and leaning up against his motorcycle, this tells us that he is going to wait for whoever to make their move before he moves. He is wearing a plain black shirt with blue jeans with his hair tucked back behind his ears, which shows that he is a fairly simple man. The motorcycle tells us that he is probably a bachelor who doesn’t have kids to take care of. In the background, we see a partly cloudy blue sky with the sun just coming up this tells us that it may be a fairly warm

One similarity of these pieces of art is that the chapters match up. Max’s childlike chapter titles are very much incorporated in the movie. For example, chapter 6 of the book “Close Encounter of the Turd Kind” is narrated in the movie. In addition, Killer Kane comes to the down under just as expected after the chapter title “ What Came Down the Chimney”. Also, when Grim gets a gun Max hears the wretchedly loud conversation his grandparents had that he is not supposed to hear, just like in the book. Furthermore, the tone set by Rodman Philbrick is undeniably there considering the execution of the suspenseful scenes, i.e. when Kevin starts choking on american chop suey and when Max is throwing things in frustration when he learns his father is on parole.…

The second comparable scene is when the Socs and Greasers line up to fight each other. They are smack-talking back and forth with each other. Two similarities between the book and the movie could be the sound of the greasers and socs talking back and forth, and it both showed or described how the greasers and socs were lining up. Two differences between the book and the movie could be instead of Paul swinging at Darry, some random Soc swung at Ponyboy, and the empty lot looked different than what I had imagined when the book described it.The book was more effective during this scene because It gave more detail about how the lot looked like and it described the feeling better than the movie…
