In Georgia, the majority of the power resides with the prime minister. The prime minister is the head of government with full executive authority over domestic and foreign affairs. The 20th century was a time of great inventions and innovations, radically transforming all aspects of society in less than 100 years. At the turn of the century Memphis was still rebuilding from the Civil war and recovering from yellow fever, but the economy was strong and the city was growing… but so were racial tensions. And by the late 60s almost all white people had left the downtown area for the suburbs. But when they left, they left an impact in the community, leaving businesses to struggle, and when the businesses went down, so did the rest of the neighborhood. As the Suburbs began to grow, the funds in the city shrank, causing the city to cut funding to several public services. Moving to the suburbs created many problems, 1. In the…

Knoxville is in the middle of a large valley in the Smokey Mountains, and Naples is in Southwest Florida. During the summer it is almost impossible to tell which is hotter, since Knoxville is in the valley it keeps heat in because of the mountains surrounding it. Although in the winter it gets to freezing temperatures while Naples gets to about fifty degrees. Occasionally it snows in Knoxville but I don’t believe it has ever snowed south of Jacksonville. Another similarity between the two places are the animals that call them home. Both cities have bears and deer, but the only major animal that is not present in the Smokies is the…

Senator William Blakely once said, “Texas is neither southern nor western. Texas is Texas.” Although this well-stated quote exemplifies the pride that Texans have for their home state, the blanket proclamation is one that fails to distinguish the unique characteristics found in nearly every region of the Lone Star state. A quote that offers a much more accurate description and distinguishes the diversity of each region was made by the professional golfer Lee Trevino when he stated, “If you’ve ever driven across Texas, you know how different one area of the state can be from another. Take El Paso. It looks as much like Dallas as I look like Jack Nicklaus.” The quote is a metaphor that juxtaposes the characteristics shared between El Paso and Dallas to the physical similarities shared between Jack Nicklaus, one of the most successful golfers of all time, and Lee Trevino, a highly decorated Mexican-American golfer.…
