Compare and Contrast Forever 21 and Abercrombie & Fitch
Compare and Contrast Forever 21 and Abercrombie & Fitch
Generally, almost every girl who likes shopping has her favorite clothing stores. In my case, Forever 21 and Abercrombie & Fitch are my favorite and each time I would like to start shopping with either one of them. As I usually shop in those two stores, I would like to share some of my opinions about them. Although Abercrombie & Fitch is popular for young people, Forever 21 may get more positive feedbacks, as it has tons of different types of trendy clothes with reasonable prices and a comfortable shopping environment. Personal speaking, Forever 21 has more types of clothes than Abercrombie & Fitch. Forever 21’s clothes can meet the need of different age groups while Abercrombie & Fitch’s clothing style mostly focuses on young people. For example, Abercrombie & Fitch’s clothes for women are usually sexy and casual, which are designed for the modern collegiate lifestyle. Thus, we can find many translucent tops and dresses in the stores. As for Forever 21, it has lots of different types of trendy clothes for different age groups to choose from. Therefore, we can find not only sexy and casual clothes but also conservative ones. This is the reason that I go to Forever 21 more often than going to Abercrombie & Fitch.
Compared with Abercrombie & Fitch, Forever 21 has lower price. The average price of Abercrombie & Fitch is around $50 - $100. For example, one sleeveless top can be $60 or more, which is quite expensive for a college student. However, we can find a similar sleeveless top in Forever 21 which is only 15 dollars. Furthermore, it is unnecessary to buy some fashionable types of clothes with a lot of money as they might be out of style soon. Moreover, Forever 21 has a lot of adorable accessories at very low price, which is really attractive to me. Therefore, for girls who like shopping trendy clothes but don’t want to spend a lot of money, Forever 21 is a better choice than Abercrombie & Fitch.

Dear American Eagle Outfitters your clothes have great quality but are a little overpriced. I treasure how you distribute different types of clothes and how they are designed. I love how they come in different colors from dark to light and you get to have a variety of a choice. Despite them being overpriced they are probably my favorite brand by far.…

Abercrombie and Fitch (A&F) has higher gross margin percentage than American Eagle Outfitters (AE) due to its higher average selling price (ASP) than AE’s; the approximate average price for a pair of men’s jeans at A&F is $80 compared with $45 at AE. This is because of the different strategies between A&F and AE. A&F targets higher income level market than AE’s with more fashionable and higher quality items. To maintain the loyal customers, A&F is required to maintain its brand image with certain price level and one of the strategies that A&F has been taking is putting more…

The greatest environmental threats that have immediate implications for A&F were the fact that they limited their clientele by focus on the one particular audience. Their target is on young sorority and fraternity consumers. Teenagers are they primary target market. It is evident in their décor. There are mural of muscular skin-showing rope climber” around the stores (Hitts, el al, 2009), p 25. The web site depicts the image of young teenagers scarcely clad frolicking across the beach front. This company is known for their discretionary required appearance. The employees are an image of their targeted customer which is 18-21 years of age (Hitts, el al, 2009). The company has established a strict dress code or “Look Policy” that requires the employee to look the part. They even go so far as to dictating what color fingernail polish and makeup the sales associate can wear. According to the CEO, Michael Jeffries (2007), “In every school there are the cool and popular kids, and then there are the not-so-cool kids," he says. "Candidly, we go after the cool kids. We go after the attractive all-American kid with a great attitude and a lot of friends. A lot of people don't belong [in our clothes], and they can't belong. Are we exclusionary? Absolutely. Those companies that are in trouble are trying to target everybody: young, old, fat, skinny. But then you become totally vanilla. You don't alienate anybody, but you don't excite anybody, either."(Cowan, Para 3). People that apply for positions that do not have the potential look are denied a position or forced to work in areas out of the public view for example the stock room. Once this information is public knowledge it…
