La Ropa Indigena y Tradicional Colombia is a country that is home to many ethnically diverse people. That includes the indigenous people of Colombia (otherwise known as the Native Colombians). Both the Colombians and the native Colombians has distinct styles of clothing that help make Colombia very unique. Traditional Clothing Colombians can be found wearing traditional western-style clothing. However, it also depends on the climate and the class that they’re in. The Upper class and the middle class tend to wear formal dark suits and/or stylish colorful ruanas (capes), blouses and dresses. The lower classes prefer to wear loose pants or skirts.     Colombia has several folkloric/traditional music styles/dances. One of the most popular is the Cumbia. Cumbia have spread to other countries. When danced in shows for the public the dancers wear clothing that were used in old times: Men would wear white pants and shirts, a hat (usually the style that used to be hand made), a large colorful handkerchief, handmade style sandals, and a machete (a large knife used to cut plants). Despite a long history of democratic government, Colombia has one of the most rigidly stratified class systems in Latin America. Colombian society is divided between the upper and lower classes, with a large and growing gap between them. Many of the attitudes that led to Colombia's sharp class divisions originated in 16th-century Spain and became ingrained in Colombian society during the colonial period. Since the mid-20th century, Colombia has been torn by violence.
