Coach Boone
Coach Boone: how do his personal characteristics, traits, attitudes, and values affect his managing style?
Coach Boone has a very dominant personality. The first trait to consider is his need for achievement. Much of this stems from the pressure put on him to succeed to maintain his career, but he strives from this pressure. We learned that the best managers focus on only one thing at a time. At the beginning of the film, Boone is focused on uniting his team. Boone doesn’t splinter himself with any other priorities. Once this goal is accomplished, Boone makes a new list of what needs to be done. Since he knows that he will be fired if he loses, Boone puts winning at the top of his list and focuses on this. Boone is also very committed

15-year-old Christopher John Francis Boone is the protagonist of the novel, who due to an autism spectrum disorder called Asperger’s syndrome has an inability to socially conform in some aspects. As the novel progresses the reader is able to pick up that Christopher likes order and being able to predict what will happen next as it makes him feel more in control of the situation. Despite being mathematically gifted; his condition is the evident cause of his incapability to empathize. Haddon uses short blunt sentences to establish that Christopher has difficulties empathizing, an example of this is when Christopher states, “The dog was dead. There was a garden fork sticking out of the dog.” (Haddon, 2003, Page 1). We learn through the diagrams…

Respected, strong and intelligent, three great synonyms for Remember the Titans’ Coach Herman Boone, yet like the rest of race, he was not always treated as an equal. Throughout the film Coach Boone deals with many everyday struggles, yet his responses deliver a very important lesson. Early in the film when the team is boarding the bus for camp, Coach Boone faces a problem when Gary demands half of the team to be white and states they “don’t need any of his people on defense”, referring to the black students. This is the first time that the audience sees how Coach Boone stands for disrespect and discrimination as he proceeds to humiliate Gary and his friend, establishing the respect he demands, in front of their peers, by repeating that he…

I believe this job will provide myself with personal fulfillment that I would not achieve anywhere else. For this interview I reached out to a family friend that personally knows the interim athletic director at Gordon State College, Gary Sharpe. Before holding his current position, Mr. Sharpe spent ten years as an assistant baseball coach for Gordon State College. Prior to his collegiate career he served as the head baseball coach for Upson-Lee and coordinator for the Georgia Dugout All-Star Games. Needless to say that Mr. Sharpe has crucial sport management experience from working at the collegiate and high school levels.…

One night 15-year-old Christopher Boone discovers that someone killed his neighbour's dog, Wellington. Upon this discovery, Christopher as a first person narrator decides to write a murder mystery novel, recounting how he solved the case. Although it’s not directly stated, the narrator's text implies that he has an autism spectrum disorder called Asperger’s Syndrome. We can infer this because he displays traits of the disorder. For example, it’s difficult for him to understand social norms such as body language and other forms of human interaction. Nonetheless, to make up for this shortcoming he is incredibly adept at problem solving and mathematics. Although he is talented in logic based skills, Christopher as a narrator is unreliable because…
