“Describtion Of A City Shower”by Jonathan Swift
(Tone)
In the poem “Describtion Of A City Shower,” Jonathan Swift expresses the tone in a angered and disgusted way.
The tone of this poem is shown when: “Meanwhile the South, rising with dabbled wings, A sable cloud athwart the welkin flings.” This expresses his anger and disgust while the rich is waking up to happiness, they are waking up to filth and poverty.

I too have expressed this tone as Jonathan Swift did. I used this tone in a paper against abortion. The paper I wrote representes how much abortion angeres and disgustes me.
In “Describtion Of A City Shower” Jothathan connect to the audience great. He not only used sarcasm, but put passion into the poem with his tone.
(Purpose)
In the poem “Describtion of A City Shower,” Swift shows the purpose by entertaing the audience.

The purpose is shown when: “If you be wise, then go not far to dine; You’ll spend in coach hire more than save in wine. A coming shower your shooting corns presage, Old achès throb, your hollow tooth will rage.” This entertains the audience of the comedy of what happens in their daily life.

I too have used this purpose. I have put adds on E-Bay and the way I sold what I put on that site is I enterained the audiences eyes.
In “Describtion Of A City Shower”,Swifts purpose is to entertain the audiences mainly the upper class of the horror they face in the slums.

In “Describtion Of A City Shower”, the auther uses his theme to tell the audiences of the horrors that is being taken place before there very eyes.
The theme is shown when : “Now from all parts the swelling kennels flow, And bear their trophies with them as they go: Filth of all hues and odors seem to tell What street they sailed from, by their sight and smell. They, as each torrent drives with rapid force, From Smithfield or St. Pulchre’s shape their course, And in huge confluence joined at Snow Hill ridge,Fall from the...
