Message: Why Wait Til Midnight?

Song: Midnight
By: Brent Jones
Don’t wait til midnight
When there is no sunshine
You are a stranger
Until there is danger
And that aint right

You say that
You love me
And cant live
Without me
Then why do
You call me
Only when you need me

[Luke 8:13 “Those on the rock are the ones who receive the word with joy when they hear it, but they have no root. They believe for a while, but in the time of testing they fall away”]

Words that describe a fake person based off or from the song: 1) Stranger 2) Aint Right 3) No sunshine 4) Love [less]

-A stranger loves you during the day when they can get something from you, which aint right. They love you just as long as you can keep filling their hands every time they put it out. But the moment there is no sunshine, they can be your best friend. But Then the next day, they disappear until they need something. And that aint right.

-Your midnight is that time of night, after hours, that darkest hour, where you are alone and you wait to show God the praise that he deserves.

I suggest you search "comedians and religion" and then go to youtube and search Lewis Black and Eddie Izzard and George Carlin and religion. Carlin has one on the Ten Commandments. Dry Bones Sermon

I can still recall the first time I heard a sermon on the valley of dry bones, taken from the book of Ezekiel chapter 37. I was around six or seven years old at Greater Salem Baptist Church in Louisville, Kentucky, were the Rev. T.B. Boyd was painting a picture of this valley full of dry dead bones toss around like dolls all over valley. I can still hear him as he talk about how depressing and dismal the sight was, dead dry bones as far as the eyes could see, bone after bone and they were dead. After a brief pulse, he would raise several questions: Is there any hope in this situation? Can these bones live again? In addition, he would expound on the conversation God had with Ezekiel regarding whether the bones could live again. Rev. Boyd would…

I do subscribe to the theory of "the Anonymous Christian". Nobody other than God knows what is in the heart of an individual and God has mercy on whomever He wants. Religion by itself cannot save the human being. God demands obedience and although religion helps individuals to reach the knowledge needed to understand, it does not guarantee the salvation. Matthew 19:25-26 & 30 “25 When the disciples heard this, they were greatly astonished and asked, “Who then can be saved?” 26 Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” 30 But many who are first will be last, and many who are last will be first. In my opinion, “the Anonymous Christian” has the same opportunity as a religious person. Therefore,…

Unlike the two previous instances, this surprise was not as foreshadowed, but it still became a reasonable explanation for the events in the story. There was no mention of relationship between the strangers. Up until this big revelation, no one knew why the third stranger acted the way did. The third stranger “stood before them (the guests) the picture of abject terror – his knees trembling” even though he was not guilty of anything. It was strange how during the first interaction between the people and the third stranger he was very frightened and nervous, but during the second encounter “his (the stranger’s) trepidation had in a great measure gone.”…

In contrast, Albert Camus’s novel, the Stranger depicts alienation on a different plane. His character Mersault is a simple, self–involved man who does not view life in the same manner as most people do. He is unable to form normal relationships with people because he cannot form a connection to them, thus preventing him from being able to form emotional attachments to other people. He does not feel obligated to try to blend in.…

Christian ministry can be defined in many different ways. Ministry is often viewed as meeting a need with compassion, whether it is a spiritual, physical, or emotional need. Ministry done in a Christian context is typically done with the intention of introducing someone to the message of the Gospel or aiding them in maturing in their relationship with Jesus Christ. There are many activities that are important to Christian ministry and important for believers in Jesus Christ to participate in. The purpose of this writing is to offer a brief examination of three of these activities and seek to answer the question ‘What is the essential activity of Christian ministry?’…

Recently I was honored to conduct an interview with Pastor Mike of the Trinity Baptist Church of Reedsburg, WI. Growing up in a non-denominational home where when we were old enough we were taught to believe in who we find fit. I was quite confused at first and decided to pay a visit. From the moment I knocked on the door I was greeted with sincerity. Here stood a man who didn’t judge me like has been done before. I was lost in a sense. At first he seemed a little hesitant but then let me ask a few questions.…
