Christopher Columbus: A Short Story
It began with me in History class, I struggle to hold my head up and to keep my eyes open as my teacher drones on and on about Christopher Columbus and about how he “discovered America.”. Anyone with a brain knows that he didn't discover anything. Anyways, as I try to force my eyelids open, I notice a strange new face. The teacher pauses his lecture to introduce the newcomer. “Okay class, this is Luca, and he is a new student.”
In an instant, he quickly walked to the seat in the far back, away from everyone. I had such a fascination with Luca, He was a breath of fresh air in this old school. I pull out some homework and get started on it. Finally, I see my friends in the distance making their way over, I’m almost halfway through my homework by the time they get over to the tree.
“ Hey, Elenora!”,shouted Kent as he squats down on the grass “ What are you working on?”. Peeping his head over my shoulder.
“ I was in the process of doing homework.”
“ What do you guys want to do anyways?”, implored Piper
“I thought of maybe going to watch a movie?” , Commented Kent as he lends me his hand to stand up. Soon after, I see him again. The new kid, he is trying to find his way to his room. He looks so lost and confused, Luca stares left and right trying to make sense of the numbers on the buildings, pulling out his map and orientation packet, that tell you everything about the school you want to know, but the one thing missing is information on how to find your room. Meanwhile,I notice that I am dazing off while Piper rambles on and on about how she feels like she deserved a better grade on the test in Chemistry.
“ Hello? Earth to Elenora, is there anyone there?”, giggled Piper, waving her hand in front of my face.
