Chivalry: Poem Analysis
I agree that there is a confusion on how to act. Though chivalry isn’t dead just rare. That this problem is not only with men but people. Chivalry should exist but with both genders. Just be decent human being regardless of gender. It’s not fair to expect everyone to uphold a certain standard that only you have. If there is a certain standard you have only keep those who are at that standard. People will be people some will just not have human decency.
-Alliteration ex “Out from the marsh, from the foot of misty” line 233. “Had he meet a man whose hands were harder” line 275,”Great bodies beat at its beautiful walls “ Lines 295 -Caesura ex” Grendel

In the poem “Sweethearts,” by Allen Branden he describes the feelings of a young couple who have to sneak out to find time to spend with each other. The line, “Through the pale statuary and falling leaves” (2) gives the poem a setting of being in a cemetery in the autumn. Their love is so strong that they never want to be apart. The speaker is a man who is telling a story about a relationship that he was in as a teenager; he is not speaking to anyone unparticular. Through diction, symbols and tone the author explains how young love can be confusing, misunderstood, and full of emotion.…

Time has gone by, which means things have changed. Hollywood has become good at changing any type of story to better fit the American eye. Anywhere from Cinderella to Hansel and Gretel. Hollywood will take a normal story and make a movie that will be more modern. They did the same thing, that they’ve done to a lot of other fairy tales, to Beowulf so it would be more appealing to varied audiences. Hollywood changes the epic poem so much in the movie to draw people's attention, make it a good versus evil kind of movie instead of flat like the poem and making it a more sexy/ emotional movie.…

The reality of the mouse, Lennie, and George, thought they could live are virtually indistinguishable. The poem, To a Mouse by Robert Burns, in which the mouse thought she was prepared, but in reality her home is destroyed, is where the two pieces are found similar. "Thou saw the fields laid bare an' west, An'weary winter comin fast, An' cozie here, beneath the blast, Thou thought to dwell, Till crash! The cruel coulter past Out thro' thy cell" (Burns 5). To represent the relationship between Of Mice of Men by John Steinbeck and the poem the first piece of evidence used is, "They all sat still. All bemused by the beauty of the thing, each mind was popped into the future when this lovely thing should come about" (Steinbeck 60). George has hope in seeing a future where they live their dream eventually if they kept working hard with Candy's help.…

Chivalry is not dead, the definition, as well as societal norms, have merely changed over time. Over the last decade, hook-up culture as well as technology have all played a vital role in why chivalry has changed so drastically. To quote Afnan Beauti, “Chivalry is simply an act of kindness toward a person who is deserving (or not) of receiving that kindness” (Beauti). This quote, however, contradicts the Merriam Webster definition that explains chivalry as, “the medieval knightly system with its religious, moral, and social code,” let me explain. The definition does mention the “social code,” but times have changed so much from a “knightly system,” into the much less intense internet dating generation; where appearance is everyone’s biggest…

Is chivalry dead? It’s a question that is asked every so often in the modern day, a time dominated by “hookup culture”, a time where social equality is celebrated and desired, and also a time where many believe that older custom that formed as staples to society such as manners and faith, are tarnished. But the meaning behind chivalry itself is well misunderstood in modern society, it’s not uncommon to run into a complainer, who spouts “Chivalry is dead” after they feel as they were mistreated, these people seem to have nostalgize the “good ol’ days” that never were, a damsel in distress, an idyllic portrait of goody two shoes holding a door open for a lady as if it were a behavior of every men in the 50’s. It’s safe to say, Chivalry is dead,…

Do we follow the code of chivalry to this very day?For some people the thought of following the code can only be within the medieval times of knights, but for the well educated historians will say that to this day we still follow the code of chivalry by a updated outlook of the code. For people who question the idea we follow the code, have not notice what they are doing now is related to what the people of the medieval age have been doing; therefore we have been following the code, but never truly know about how we are following it by our standards.…

In almost all love stories or movies in this generation you will see a “man”, this is a misconception. Everyone has their own definition of a man but most get it wrong in my eyes. I have watched girls in high school always go after that picture perfect guy but then there are some who rise above that and go after the soft spoken men who turn out to be picture perfect in your eyes, because you understand. Chivalry seemed to die out ages ago but a man should still be chivalrous.…
