Every parent wants nothing more then their child to succeed. They want their child to develop and learn with out struggle. In this day in age we have access to so many devices that can help contribute to a child’s success. Many will argue that a device such as a I-pad or mobile device will hinder ones learning. I feel the exact opposite will occur, and the child will gain knowledge. Children develop and learn so much at a very young age. They absorb everything they see and hear. They best learn through touch, sight, and sound. Using a device such as a touch I-pad, or I-phone a child can interact on their level. There are so many Apps available for children of all ages. They will help a child develop at their capability and speed, while learning. I feel they will absorb more knowledge with a educational hands on device rather then TV. Children have to interact and use their brains in order for the App to work. Placing a child in front of a TV to just sit and learn, they do not get the same hands on experience. There will be those arguing that placing a phone or tablet in a child’s arms will cause harm. I do not see that being true, in this day in age we use App’s for everything. Rather at the grocery store, banking, or even schools, most teach with touch devices. I feel that helping your child learn with a hands free device, will only help them in the

Children should not have screen time taken away from them it's apart of everyday life. I feel as if certain television shows help toddlers learn things also smaller childer(ages 5-9). There are all types of networks created just for them. There's:PBS Kids, Channel thirteen, Sprout, Nick jr. etc. Also they have websites for children too. ABC mouse helps so much. Again, to express the importance of this issue in our society is very important for our future generations. Technology is not going in a backwards direction and to not experience certain tools at an early age may damper your skills later on in life. There are a multitude of schools all around the country that are just now starting to acquire MacBooks and iPads for use in the classroom. There have been some issues associated with the program at some schools, but just as any new program, the small issues are worked out at first and the outcome will be a more comprehensive system of…

The article, "Screen Time Limits Are Vital for Children," makes it clear that children are ever-increasing the time they spend in front of screens and suffering for it. The author states, despite recommendations from doctors about limiting a child's exposure to only 1-2 hours a day, parents allow an average of 7.5 hours a day. As a result, doctors are seeing an increase in physical and mental problems such as disruptive sleep, attention issues, and even depression. Play, an important part of a child's development, has not been shown to be as beneficial when experienced through a screen as opposed to real-life interaction.…

The advantages of letting children watch TV are that if you let them watch the right kinds of shows they will learn things, like I mentioned above. If you let them watch Discovery Kids, they may get more into science and want to do experiments at home and be more excited to go to school specifically to go to science class and learn. TV can also help kids figure out what they like to do. If they see someone doing something on TV, they may want to try to do it to. For example, if the child sees someone playing football, they may want to go try out for the team. I also think a lot of it has to do with the kid’s home life. Some disadvantages could be if they have a bad home life, they may use TV as a way to escape and then they end up watching way too much TV and never doing anything else.…

The first solution is parents must partially abstain children from technology by limiting children’s screen time according to American Academy of Pediatrics. The reason is that children don’t need technology to learn just as how current icon don’t need technology to bring them to where they are now. Furthermore, even Steve Jobs, the co-founder of Apple does not fancy his children playing technology. In fact, when iPad first came out, he banned his children from using them. He has an orthodox functional family that have their dinner table talk. He leads by example to all the tech-savvy and ordinary people out there. The pros of this solution is that we can see the fruition of this solution as children without technology are still becoming the future leader. The con is that technology is evolving and it is unsure whether there is life without technology in the future. The solution will work for the time being before technology controls every aspect of our life.…

Mr.Yee does not do a very good job arguing both sides of the story for the topic of “Parents Should Be Able to Control What Kids Watch”. If you read his article you can easily find out his point of view on this. He is very bias on this and does not present any counter arguments for the kid’s side. Mr. yee could have made a more persuading argument if he would have explained or had counterargument why parents should be able to control a big part of kids’ lives today.…

The definition for television is a system for transmitting visual images and sound that are reproduced on screens, primarily used to broadcast programs for entertainment, information, and education. The history of television comprises the work of numerous engineers and inventors in several countries over many decades. The first practical demonstrations of television, however, were developed using electromechanical methods to scan, transmit, and reproduce an image. As electronic camera and display tubes were perfected, electromechanical television gave way to all-electronic systems in nearly all applications.…

It is proven that children who watch television shows such as SpongeBob Squarepants score an average of twelve points lower on their I.Q. tests. Study suggests that watching just nine minutes of programs such as those can cause short-term attention and learning problems in four-year-olds (Fox News, 2011). Parents have become accustom to convenience and the sheer quickness of everything. The TV becomes a cheap and easy babysitter. Television becomes the one thing that parents probably would not know what to do with their children if it happened to go out. Parents want to spend time with their children while watching their shows, so they let the children watch programs they should not. Television has become a teacher to young children, and whatever they see and hear becomes something that they believe they can do. While it is easy to put children in front of the TV, inappropriate content and too much time spent watching TV can hinder their learning abilities.…
