Persuasive Essay
Sports: the activity involving physical exertion and skill in which an individual or team competes against one another for entertainment.
Many people think cheerleading does not fit in this category for the reason because we “ only stand on the track and cheer”. But they don’t know what happens behind the scenes, the constant hours we put in to perfect our routines and make everything run smoothly.
Cheerleading
is physical activity, a competitive sport, based on organized routines, which contains the components of tumbling, dance, jumps, cheers and stunting to direct spectators of events to cheer on sports teams at games or to participate in competitions. The athlete that is involved is called a cheerleader. The only difference between a sports team is that if you miss the catch you only miss the ball, not a person.
Excellence is the result of caring more than others think is wise; risking more than others think is safe; dreaming more than others think is practical and expecting more than others think is possible. Cheer is always under estimated and the skill is always something people think is easy, but they don’t know what it is like to risk your self for someone’s else’s faults. You may not consider cheer as a sport but can you flip yourself around, stunt others 10 feet in the air, and cheer and dance at the same time? .. Besides the cheerleaders may only be the people to stand on the side lines, but they are the only people that are always there to support you through your loses. The higher the goal, the harder the climb, but taken each day, one step at a time. The goal is accomplished, the dream is attained, and the prizes? The wisdom and strength that are gained.
The reason why people think cheer isn’t a sport because they don’t recognize the injuries that are involved; in 2008 ABC News voted cheerleading the most dangerous women’s sport in the country. They amount of injuries per year for
