Charles Manson: Not What I Call A Good Man
Charles Manson is not what I or most people would call “a good man”. He was the leader of a group they called his family. He convinced his family that he was the christ and everything he said was considered right and should be executed without questions. He did this so called brainwashing by giving members of his family pills LSD pills. He had his family members kill many people and tried to blame it on the blacks. Manson was trying to start a major war between the whites and the blacks. Charles called this war, Helter Skelter. He would take his family to the desert and hide when Helter Skelter started and stayed in the desert until it was done. When the blacks won he would come out from the desert and rule the world. Charles Manson, even though he is a psycho path, is also a genius. It takes skill with words and logic to convince a group of people that you are the christ and that they should kill for you. Freud would have loved to study Charles Manson. Freud deals with unconsciousness, id, ego, superego, dreams, defense mechanisms, sexual desires/thoughts/urges and more. Charles Manson’s id, ego, and superego would have to combine and work as one machine so he …show more content…
Jung is known for unconscious unacceptable and acceptable thoughts, word association, introvert/extrovert, symbols, and individuation. If I would have to make a prediction, I would guess that Jung would want to show Manson some ink blobs and record what Manson sees in those blobs. Jung would also focus on Manson’s word choice and how he talked, not only with his mouth but with his gestures and eye contact. Manson’s speaking skills were his most effective weapon when it came into reeling people into joining the family or getting a family member to do something for him. Also he used these skills to intimidate others. Jung would also like to look at Manson’s life story and see if there was something in his past that caused him to act the way he

Later in that year, some of his followers were arrested for crimes but none related to the murders. Susan Atkins confessed to the murders while she was in jail. She also told the police all of the other people who were involved in the killings, Manson too. Manson and three other members were convicted of the murders and sentenced to death but that was over-ruled in 1972. They are now serving life sentences for their roles in the murders. Manson is eligible for parole but he has been denied eleven times and is eligible again in 2012. He has been denied so many times because many people still think that he is crazy. He still has a major influence on many people around him, including the remaining “family” members. The author, Vincent Bugliosi, was the prosecuting attorney in the Manson cases. I believe he wrote the book to share his first-hand account of the murders, to make us aware that evil exists and in unsuspecting people and he also probably needed to write the book as an emotional or mental coping…

Does the definition of a serial murderer only encompass one who commits the act or is the definition able to be enlarged to include one who leads others to commit murder? A jury in 1971 decided that, yes a person can lead others to commit heinous murders and be labeled a serial killer. Such person is Charles Manson. A serial murderer according to Steve Egger is a murderer that commits two or more murders for reasons that differ from traditional motives. A serial murder is usually a compulsive act, primarily for fulfillment of a fantasy. The most important component is that the murders are dissimilar in the events that surround them. Victims however can share a common thread…

Manson was had been the mastermind behind four attacks. First was the Crowe shooting, “The family” had been on the search for some drugs, Manson was lead to a black drug dealer names Bernard Crowe, in believeing in the Helter Skelter theory Mansons Family took action and shot/killed the man. Next was the Hinman murder, Manson had been suspicious that a fellow neighbor of his named Gary Hinman had stolen some money from him. Manson sent over a few members of the cult to go get the money and when Bobby wouldn’t cough it up, Manson had retaliated by keeping him hostage for two days full of tortue until finally a member had stabbed him to death. After that came the tate muders, the most famous of Mansons groosum work. On the night of August 8, 1969, Charles "Tex" Watson, Susan Atkins, Patricia Krenwinkel, and Linda Kasabian were sent by Manson to the old home of Terry Melcher. Their instructions were to kill everyone at the house and make it appear like Hinman's murder, with words and symbols written in blood on the walls. The four did as they were told and brutally killed Steven Parent, Jay Sebring, Wojciech Frykowski, Abigail Folger, Sharon Tate and Sharon Tate's unborn child. Manson had planned to make this infuriate the whites so that they would retaliate against the black and quite possibly his Helter Sketler theory may have came true. Each of the “family” members were later convicted all though that subject would be up for debate whether Charles was actually guilty or not. After all was said and done after a misserable childhood full of quite possibly the worst family structure possible, the hard come up of mischief and rebelliance, the drug addiction, and the unsuccesfull attempt at making it as a rock star Manson did in fact have a hard life but it was no reason to lash and do what he did. Till this day I believe Manson had gone nuts since the day his mother didn’t want him anymore and he was looking for a “family”…

They also said they watched him bring dead animals back to life (Rothman 3). This is a pretty intense accusation to make about someone, but considering these people worshiped the man & thought of him as a God nothing is entirely impossible. He used sex to control his people (Cannon 8).At one point in their lives, all of these people were just normal people, living their own lives. Once they came into contact with the monstrous Charles Manson it changed them forever. They were doing things they never would have thought of doing in their normal state of mind. They had them taking other people's lives and they had no feelings about it at all, That’s not normal human behavior, we aren’t made to brutally murder each other. He made these once innocent people into monsters like him, and even though Manson has been locked away for many years, He still has an influence on some of these people today. Not many people understand, but some things just aren’t meant to be understood. He was just a very manipulative individual. I mean, doesn't a person have to be to convince other human beings to brutally murder another? People believe his motive for the crime was to turn the whites against the blacks. He wanted people to believe there was a "violent black uprising" (Rothman…
