Character Analysis Of Atticus In To Kill A Mockingbird, By Harper Lee
Now that we know Atticus is nice, next is a show with some similarity, in The Fosters twins got adopted when they were only little kids and since they wanted to get to know their biological parents, one of the towns named Jesus went or his mother's home then the mother Stef found out and was confident that her kid was inside his mom's house, she decides to enter and out of nowhere, she has been shot, but in reality her kid was never inside the house. Another cop could have taken the role of going inside the house but she chose it due to the kids in danger being her own kids. I assume that any cop no matter the situation would have fears and be nervous because they don't know the outcome of the event.
Now from a confident moment to an even more braver Mr.

Atticus hasn't shot in so many years and they depended on him to kill the dog, and so he did which then game everyone excitement and celebration. Atticus has had some history with shooting before which his kids didn't know about. Everyone else in the town will be talking about it and remembering all those past memories of Atticus. Moving on from celebration it's time for the most mature moment in the story, Jem has asked him about Mr. Ewell and now they are worried for him due to the fact that he said that he will get him really bad, but Atticus said in return that "If spitting in my face and threatening me saved Mayella Ewell one extra beating, that's something I'll gladly take. He had to take it out on somebody and I'd rather it be me that that houseful of children out there." (Lee 218). Atticus wasn't afraid of what Mr. Ewell would have done to him if it wasn't only spitting on him and the way he just didn't go out of control on him. This should be taken into consideration because it shows how Atticus is more mature than Mr. Ewell who acts like a 5 year old child. In other places other people would have probably taken it to the route of punches. Everyone should think before doing something

“To Kill A Mockingbird” by Harper Lee is a perfect example of how the plot progression of the story was closely related to the character development. Lee used Jean Louise, also known as “Scout” as a main model of character development, as she grows through her understandings of racism, how to handle social situations and her intelligence . The plot progression throughout the novel was very close in relationship of bildungsroman in the characters personal stories. This book being fiction is not true but it depicts how life was during the time period of the 1930’s. The characters also are very close to portraying common people of the time in Macon County of Alabama.…

When the mob first arrives, Atticus “folded [his newspaper] deliberately, dropped it in his lap, and pushed his hat to the back of his head” this shows that he was expecting tine lynch mob to arrive. Not only was he expecting them to come, he was expecting them to deal some damage to Tom Robinson, but he was weary that they would hurt him and others around him. This is shown by Atticus’ hands. Harper Lee shows that they “were trembling a little” this shows that although he isn 't trying to show, it can be seen. Courage is characterized as mental or moral strength to surpass notions of fear. As demonstrated by Atticus Finch and Mrs Dubose in Harper Lee’s To Kill a Mockingbird, the development of courage gives the character’s strength and courage to hold their heads high, while fearing none. Harper Lee depicts the theme of courage incalculable amount of times, detailing courage as “ when you know you’re licked before you being, but you begin anyway and you see it through no matter what.” (Chapter 11, Page 124) All of the characters have an alternate kind of perspective of what courage is exactly, which will be examined in depth.…

When there was a mad dog in town someone had to solve the problem by shooting it. Everyone knew Atticus could shoot the best in the town except Jem and Scout. When the children found out that their dad had the best shot in Maycomb, they were amazed, yet shocked. Jem is so impressed and surprised that he said to Scout, “’d you see him, Scout? ’d you see him just standin’ there?...’n’ all of a sudden that gun was a part of him…” (129). Atticus believes that it is best for him to keep this part of him to himself in order to maintain the way Jem and Scout viewed him. Atticus did not want his kids to see him as reckless and crazy, but rather as wise and gentle. Atticus Finch clearly forms a public identity because of everything he tried to do for Tom Robinson in the trial. Atticus wants to show people that it is important to value equality and justice in the world. Many people in town do not quite understand why Atticus is defending Tom but he explains to Scout, “if I didn’t I couldn't hold up my head in town, I couldn't represent this county in the legislature, I couldn't even tell you or Jem not to do something again” (100). Atticus believes that if he does not do this that people will not respect him as much as they did and he will not be able to respect himself. No matter what, Atticus will always do his best to set a good example for his…

The reason Atticus said ¨It is a sin to kill a Mockingbird¨ is because the mockingbirds do not do anything to us but sing. Atticus is also comparing people to being a mockingbird. Just like Boo Radley because it is not his fault he is a recluse, he leaves the house just to save Scout and Jem from Bob Ewell, therefore risking become the town hero. What Atticus is trying to say is that to not judge people by what they look like. Have standards and stick to them no matter what happens to them. He says it is not a sin to kill a bluejay, because bluejays represent bullies, racism, and the anger in everyone. Some of the examples for the bluejays are Bob Ewell, and the mad dog that Atticus attacks. When someone kills a bluejay it represents stopping…

Scout recalls this, “It was Miss Stephanie’s pleasure to tell us this: this morning Mr. Bob Ewell stopped Atticus on the post office corner, spat in his face, and told him he’d get him if it took the rest of his life. ‘I wish Bob Ewell wouldn’t chew tobacco,’ was all Atticus said about it. (pg.290&291)” It takes someone with a very strong character to peacefully stand there while somebody verbally abuses you. You definitely have to be patient with that person to not lose your temper, which could very well turn into a brawl. Atticus knows not to get any more involved with Bob Ewell, which requires being very patient as he lashes all of his built up anger out on him. Atticus could have gotten upset with Mr. Ewell, but his genuinely patient and caring character said otherwise. I think Atticus, when consulted by his children regarding the incident, made it humorous to protect them from any fear they could have experienced. This makes Atticus very loving and protective, which makes me personally respect him more as a…

I believe in judging someone by their actions and character rather than by the color of their skin and sexuality. This I believe because there is good and bad in all of us. The color of our skin does not depict the flaws we have. In the second amendment it states that all men are created equal, but we still do not treat each other equally. Defending Tom Robinson was not easy because I knew that from the minute Mayella opened her mouth Tom was a dead man. But everyone including a black man deserves a second chance. How could I ever tell my own children “You never really understand a person until you consider things from their point of view - until you climb into his skin and walk around in it” if I didn’t pick up Tom’s case because I was afraid of what people would think of me. When people say things about me like “Atticus Finch is the same in his house as he is on the public streets” why would I prove them wrong? You are only as good as you portray yourself to be. But when you are a black man in the town of Maycomb, Alabama you were never dealt the good hand to begin with. Sadly Tom never got a second chance. Tom was a good man but because of the color of his skin he was not treated as fairly as the rest of us.…

Atticus had a great talent of being able use a gun very well. However, Atticus had no attention in the kids knowing that he was know as “one shot Finch”. When the dog came into town he had no other decision than to shoot and kill the dog to save the kids and the town. Scout explains, “In a fog, Jem and I watched our father take the gun and walk into the middle of the street… Jem was paralyzed, I pinched him to get him moving but then atticus saw us coming he called, “Stay where you are,”... “What's the matter with you, Boy can't you talk?” said Mr. Tate, grinning at Jem. “Didn't you know your daddy's-” “Hush Heck,” said Atticus. Jem sat in numb confusion” (Lee, 128). Atticus shows great courage by pulling out his talents when he didn't want the kids to know about it. However as a father he had to save the kids from any harm. Atticus hit the dog in one shot, but he makes it seem like it is no big deal and doesn't want anyone talking or seeing him any different. Atticus doesn't want the kids thinking he is so great because of that, rather having the kids think that he is a great person and doing it because of that. All in all, Atticus shows courage by shooting the dog in front of all the people when he really didn't want this coming back up when it didn't have…

    To kill a mockingbird

Even though Atticus is just seen as a lawyer in the novel "To Kill a Mockingbird", Jem and Scout, his kids, come to realize what kind of a great father he is. Many people think a gun is used to kill innocent people or animals. Atticus shot this mad dog because if he had not, the dog would have been danger towards others. Miss Maudie tells Scout and Jem "forgot to tell you the other day that besides playing the Jew’s harp, Atticus Finch was the deadest shot in Maycomb County in his time" (Lee 98). This demonstrates that Scout and Jem come to understand and value Atticus when they see him come and kill the dog. Before this innocent happened they thought that Atticus was just a man who solved cases, but they never knew about the other side of their father. Atticus in this story is a lawyer who defends a black male named Tom Robinson. One of Atticus’s reason to defend Tom Robinson was that if he didn’t then he couldn’t be able to hold up his head in town and couldn’t represent this county in the legislature. He also couldn’t even tell Scout or Jem not to do something again. Jem and Scout come to admire Atticus when they figure out that Atticus is standing up for what he believes in even though most of the whole county doesn’t. Finally Atticus speaks to Jem about courage. He tries to develop that relationship with Jem by making him see things the way he does. For instance he talks about Mrs. Dubose to Jem and says “I wanted you to see what real courage is, instead of getting the idea that courage is a man with a gun in his hand. It’s when you know you’re licked before you begin but you begin anyway and see it through no matter what” (112). This proves that Jem comes to admire Atticus through his speech because Atticus is using another person as an example then himself. He is using Mrs. Dubose as an example and tried to make him understand that she died beholden to nothing and no one. The reason Atticus explained it this way was because, he wanted Jem to understand…

All through the novel, Go Set A Watchman, Atticus can be seen as a very different character, therefore, developing conflicts between him and Scout. To begin with, Scout finds a pamphlet labeled The Black Plague near Atticus’ books. As Scout says in the novel, “‘I especially liked the part where the Negroes, bless their hearts, couldn’t help being inferior to the white race because their skulls are thicker and their brain-pans shallower—’” (Lee, 102). After picking up the pamphlet, Scout begins to read it with utter shock of how her own father could own a pamphlet like this. Additionally, Atticus shows his new side of racism by pointing out the fact that although everyone deserves equal rights, the African American community isn’t prepared for it. As mentioned in the novel, “‘Do you want Negroes by the carload in our…
