Wilson followed some of George Washingtons suggestions by avoiding entanglements, and keeping america out of the war in Europe. The opinion of the president during World War I and World War II was different. During the first world war the president supported his more anti-German opinion. World War II was less about ideology and good against evil. Basicallly, both sides in the conflict gained support from American people. Approximately, in August 1914 tensions between Serbia and Austria-Hungary in the Balkan Peninsula were increasing significantly.By 1917 United states had one goal and this was simply to win. It is important to know that the United States wasn’t the most powerful country. By 1914 Aamerica had almost no army ad that’s one of the reason Americans didn’t want to intervene in the war in Europe. Isolationism was a way of life . in 1917 Wilson throught the Seelctive Service Act forced an organized first national drafts in American history. This allowed the United States to over 3 million soldiers in a few months Like we said, to enlist enough troops, Wilson forced through the Selective Service Act of 1917, organizing the first national draft in American history. Though not overly popular, the measure allowed the U.S. to raise over three million soldiers in a matter of months. Presidents did a great job by making the army better through the 20th century because the country could fight better and be ready during the unexpected world war
