Cerebral Angiopathy: A Short Story
I had been so tired of being stuck in my hospital bed that I was sure that Nurse Holly was about to kill me. “Piper, get back into your bed it’s time for your medicine, and your know you need to be resting!!” Nurse Holly jokingly yet seriously yelled at me. “Fine,” I grumbled back, “I don't understand why I have to take all these damn pills though.” I have been at the Harvard Medical Hospital for more than three years, almost four birthdays, for tomorrow I will be 16. I have Cerebral Amyloid Angiopathy. So basically, my brain hates itself and gifts me the beauty of having episodes seizures, strokes, temporary memory loss, and tumors and it was decided among my parents and doctors in Connecticut that I, Piper Alexandra Finn, would be shipped …show more content…

“Well the, I guess this is goodbye. I hope you decide to live. If you do, then maybe we can spend a holiday together.”
“Well, we could have spent holidays together before, but you never, in four years, bothered to come here and visit your daughter. Your only daughter. So get out of my room and stay out of my life. I never want to see you again, Christine.”
“Then I guess this is goodbye.”
“Goodbye.” I said not feeling regret at all. I felt relief. She had never been my mother. She had never really truly loved me. “I’m free,” I whispered, “I am finally free.”
“So, will you stay?” Alex asked, “Will you stay with me? And we can be there for eachother?”
“Of course, besides, my mom said I get to keep the trust fund. The trust fund has $18,000,0000 in it for me to use when I chose. So you and I will be together, as selective sister. If you choose so.”
I knew our futures were set. We could be happy together until our disease killed us.
“Let’s travel around the world.” I said.
“Yes, that sounds amazing!! Let’s go to Paris!”
“That sounds perfect. I guess our choice is made then.” I decided then that I would be happy and that I would make sure that Alex was happy
