Causes Of The Holocaust: The Salem Witch Trials
Was the Holocaust really necessary? Was the Salem Witch Trials really necessary? Was there any reason for it at all? Just like the Salem Witch trials there was no real evidence, need, or reason for The holocaust. Because somebody said this, or somebody believed in this, many people lost their lives with no real, strong reason for it. Most of it were caused by mass hysteria, something that does not happen much today.

The Holocaust was very much like the The Salem Witch Trials. A Lot of people died for no reason. The Holocaust was put in reparation by the Adolf Hitler a Nazi (History.com Staff).He made sure anyone who were a Jew, Gypsy, homosexual, disabled or anyone who was not a European German was killed. Some were sent to concentration camps called “Ghettos” and made to work before they were either burned to death in the gas …show more content…
During this time people were very religious. Therefore if anyone was accused of having any kind of witchery they were hung, drowned, or burned to death, unless they confessed(History.com Staff). Now back then if you confessed you would be known for it and your name would be ruined, so not many people confessed. Even though all you could do is confess most people didn't because it was a sin to lie, and if they confessed without being a witch they would haft to live with that the rest of their lives( History.com Staff).There were no real evidence if you were a witch, it was just a he said she said thing. Didn't matter how much u pleaded they did not care. It was a very cruel time. Most of this was caused by mass hysteria(History.com Staff).

The Holocaust and The Salem Witch Trials are very similar. Many people died for no reason. People were treated very badly. The Mass Hysteria was the biggest part in my opinion. People getting paranoid in large amounts causes a lot of conflict. Even though both were very bad times most people don't talk about them that much

    For starters, the victims of both cases were innocent of any crime. They are both great examples of being scapegoated for things they were not responsible for. Miller perceives a correlation between the witch trials and the Holocaust for scapegoating and destruction which obviously occurred in both cases. Additionally, both are examples of societies allowing certain atrocities to occur without being stopped by anyone until it becomes overly drastic. Continuing, in both cases the parties were discriminated against for not conforming to norms of their society. The people were victimized in each incident. Hitler attempted to destroy all of the Jews because they had different views on religion than he did.
