The most significant challenge that I had was when I came from Mexico to the US in the 3rd grade I didn’t know how to communicate in English. As a result, I struggled in school. Kids made fun of me because of the way I dressed. My dad and mom struggled financially too. They were unemployed, once they found a job it was at a low wage. They struggled to buy me and my sisters clothes. Everyday we would walk miles across the streets of San Bernardino because we couldn’t afford a car.…

A significant challenge I have faced in the past years is the divorce of my parents. My parents divorced around four or five years ago, when I was nine or ten. This challenge has not affected me academically, because throughout the process of the divorce my parents always told me that I should not allow my problems at home to affect me as a person or academically, during this time I kept up a 4.0 GPA. Some of the positive things that have come out of this situation is growing my relationship with my immediate family, and also with my non-immediate family. Another positive outcome is me being able to see just how strong I am, the divorce was very hard for me and my sister but we stayed positive and were able to overcome this problem together,…

Work Ethic. With this discourse it may be difficult in teaching. I am a very hard worker and put everything I have into any kind of work that I do. I have gained my work ethic through softball and sometimes I expect everybody to work as hard as I, and sometimes people don’t. I will get frustrated and my anger will build. I know that as a teacher some students may not work as hard as what I want them, and I need to help them in proactive ways. I hope that I can work on this discourse over time.…
